Exactly, the 5020/30 are a bigger tractor than the 4047. The loader is bigger/stronger, and the operators area is bigger too. I'm actually throwing around the idea of trading up again to a cab tractor (just in the "what if" stage) and the 5020/30 would be perfect IF they came in HST.

That's what makes the decision hard for me. I won't likely upgrade unless it's also an upgrade in HP & loader, so that makes the XR4046 HST cab less attractive as a $6500 upgrade just to have the cab.

Yeah, the trend seems to be go bigger, not smaller in HP. Plus, different engines seem to have more drive line loss than others. Like, Kioti's Daedong is 49 engine / 38 PTO HP... where our Mitsu is 47/38, and our new Shibaura is what, 46/35? Although, those numbers are for the cab versions, maybe the non cab will be closer in PTO HP

I can't see a cab having any bearing on driveline efficiency at all; it's just a cab, but you never know?

Weight is most improtant in a tractor for pushing/pulling duties. These new tractors are light comapred to the old Fords and Massey's. Take an old 8N, it weighs something like 7000lbs with 26hp, while my 5020C only weighs 4850lbs without the loader. Horseppower is nothing without traction for pushing/pulling chores. Mowing, running a backhoe, auger, etc is a different story; horsepower is nice.

One of the things I liked about the LS 5020 is that it had good weight to it compared with the other tractors on the market. Add the loader and loaded tires and it gets pretty good traction especially with the R-4's I got on it.

I believe there's an extra pulley on the driveline for the AC compressor ... I think that's why it's rated for less HP.

I have an 8N and I believe the weight of the tractor is 2,410 lbs without ballasts oils and fuel.

You're right. I heard that from someone and took their word as fact. Tractor Data lists them at 2410 as you indicate. Sorry for the misinformation! :)
