Massey 240 hydraulic filter fit

Hi

I recently removed the hydraulic filter from the underside of the MF 240 transmission box. It was gunked up...causing slow lifting of the loader and linkage. Typical as we have just finished apple harvest.

I came to putting it back into position and wondered whether it had been installed correctly in the first place!

There is the filter and what appears to be an inner shroud that is free to move. The top of the filter has an inverted cone inner that goes in first against the pump, with open ended side of the filter facing the floor. I then put in place the small washer and spring, the nut and clip. The inner shroud then goes inside the filter but appears to be free moving.

Any ideas?

Assemble this way.
first the large "o" ring then the shroud ,the one that fits on the OUTSIDE of the filter with the open end down,then the filter,then the Cone shaped piece with the cone fitting INSIDE the filter, then the small "O" ring that goes around the threaded part then a plain washer, then the spring then the nut then the clip then a new cover gasket and the cover.

I think the previous owner didnt install the filter correctly. Logic dictated the correct way up and everything is working really well thanks!

Now I am carting around my 600kg apple sacks without worries.
