I think the part of Texas I would invade  is E. Texas, but far enough north and west to evade the coastal humidity. Maybe that is wishful thinking. I've never spent much time in Texas. Visited the cousin in Goldthwaite, and in Austin many years ago. Traveled across S. Texas as kid on vacation, and attended a business thing in San Antonio about 12 years ago.

Edit: Add "The Last Picture Show" to your movie list. I think that is set in W. Texas.

East Texas for the most rain in Texas. Kinda like northern Louisiana. If you don't want lots of folks around and mountains.........West Texas. We even have a desert out there. Well, sandhills. If you want blizzards..........the Panhandle. If you want hot humidity....South Texas. We have it all.

With all being normal, East Texas has around 36 inches of rain a year. Those pine trees need a lot.

jinman; That is a very handsome little boy. His mom is very pretty too! I agree with bindian, even though I don't know to which hat she refers. You need to get 4 generations in the photo, when they visit again! That would be neat!

FG,

the link to the photo is in post #226 by wroughtn_harv from when they got together. Jim is wearing a straw cowboy hat with the front brim bent up with a Texas flag, a US flag, I think a snake is on it, along with a few other "critters". He is talking on a cell phone and wearing a black TBN t shirt. That is the hat I was referring about.

OK, 36 inches of rain is good by me but I'm not much for too many people. This info is a starting point for me. Thank you.

Many years ago, I heard far east Texas got about 45" a year, central Texas about 30" a year, and west Texas about 15" a year.

All I could remember is 36. Maybe 36 inches, at one time, was the minimum. I do know there are too many folks around me. Northern and Deep East Texas would be "thinner".
