Quick answer is no. Hogs not concerned with donkeys.

We installed hog wire, inside the 5 strand barb wire, around perimeter of ranch in 2006. Wire has bottom 6-8 inches buried. The local hogs are tearing up neighbors places but, only our area between front fence and road gets any damage.

Don't re-calibrate your monitor.

I just did mine with my Eye 1 GretagMacbeth and it still looks the same. :laughing:

Supposed to be in the 40-50 range next week, so the grass will be green again and any deer kill

can't lay too long while the other guys try to get one.

Texas does too.. particularly in Parker county, if you look quick enough.

Upon sighting Coyote, mix with lead.:licking: If far from the house and the wind is right...............leave for buzzards.:thumbsup: When carcass is stiff as a board, go out and kick it to make sure its done. If winds are all wrong at anytime, mix with some dirt.:2cents: At least, that is how my Dad and Uncle taught me to do it.

Your right. OK is not too far from Texas in being purdy. If it wasn't for the state line markers, you wouldn't know you left Texas. Except going over the RED River.
We spent every vacation while I was growing up, going to the Texas Panhandle and cutting through western OK on two lane highways. All those little towns. Then Dad discovered the interstates and that trip got less picturesque and more boring.

Dad and his family raised Greyhounds back on the farm to take care of the coyotes. Coyotes don't have a prayer against Greyhounds. I forgot if the Greyhounds would make a quick meal of them, or just leave them.

Sadly, by the time I came along, Grandpa had stopped raising Greyhounds. Grandpa and my Uncle just raised bird dogs by the time I came along. It really was a thrill for a 10 year old going bird hunting in the snow (first time) and hunt with an awesome pointer all at the same time. Finding quail tracks in the snow was neat also.

I know when I was a kid,, there was an old man that lived down the road a few miles that ran deer with his dogs.. they were a cross breed between a greyhound and bluetick,, now I would think that it's illegal running deer not crossing breeding,, The dogs would run the deer right to him.. He always had plenty of deer sausages.. pretty good shot also.. anyway little bit of Oklahoma history.. Lou

My son just came by and picked up the last of the fried turkeys,:cool2:, taking it to someone from his church,, I was glad to see it go.. I always cook way to much,, I fried six and we ate two, between 28 family members and friends Thursday.. How many bakes turkeys vs fried, smoked or grilled?.. just wondering,, not going to use this information for anything of importance.. :laughing:. Lou

dave1949--I think it was you that lamented about growing hot peppers in the short growing season of Maine. You know I did it when I lived there and today I just got my Johnny's catalog. On page 87 there are all kinds of hot peppers with maturities as short as 60 days from transplant. Most are in the 80-something day range and I am certain you can grow these in the 90 day season of Maine and show those Texans that you can compete in the hot category.

I know this is a Texas thread but we have a fellow TBNer here trying to grow hot peppers like the Texans do so this is relevant.

On page 87 there are all kinds of hot peppers with maturities as short as 60 days from transplant. Thanks, I discussed getting my Johnny's catalog over in Good Morning! First thing I checked was the pepper seeds' maturity. :laughing:

Texas is a nice place to visit probably. Too hot for me.

I have a cousin in Goldthwaite, TX. Poor girl was working in a diner near Camp Perry, OH when this smooth-talking Texas boy came in and swept her off her feet. He was in the Air Force, competing in the pistol matches there. Well, they got married and that thin-skinned Texas boy only made it through about five Ohio slushy winters, then he had to run home. :laughing:

Went home and joined the Texas Highway Patrol. He was detailed to be a courier for the folks coming and going at the LBJ ranch. Got sick of that and got assigned to patrol and driver's license testing. He and a partner covered two counties on a circuit giving driving tests. He can tell some good stories about both of those assignments. :laughing:

We went to friends on T-giving day. They oven roasted. I have a turkey in the smoker as I type. Should be ready in another hour. Pumpkin pie in the oven. Should be finished in about 30 mintues.

Eastern Oklahoma and E. Texas, it is hard to define the differences, like Brandi said, the Red river. The upper West panhandle is nice too, but I prefer the trees on the Eastern half.
