I'm sure it seemed like a good idea to him at the time. Really not enough information to tell what exactly went wrong other than the dangers of doing something alone that should have a minimum of two.

Hard to tell what happened, but seems unusual to tip over pulling a car (you'de presume it was on level ground), maybe it went off the road while he was looking back at the car? Shows how dangerous things can be, even doing something that's relatively simple and you'd imagine also on level ground is dangerous.

If he was pulling a car in an attempt to jump start it and whoever was in the trailing car hit the brakes then it may have jerked his tractor over backwards...?

Saw that this morning reading the news. There will probably be an update later with details. I guess it wouldn't be hard to do with a narrow front tractor, or the towed vehicle started and took the slack out of the chain, then the tractor took up the slack and got jerked somehow.

Reading the brief article, it would appear there were two people at least. Assuming the reporter got confused (as they usually do) between "jump-start" & "pull-start". I don't see how a tractor could tip over while jump-starting a car and pull-starting would require a second body in the car. Maybe the person in the car didn't know what they were doing and rammed the JD when the engine caught? Lot of possible scenarios for this one. Sad, whatever the cause.

I Googled another article, and it said he was pulling the car with a John Deere tractor, trying to "jump start" it when he lost control.
