I'm sure this has been previously discussed, but I'll be danged if I can find it. Question: Just bought a bolt-on pintle hook with 2" ball. The idea is to bolt it on the back of my box scraper. I'd like to move an empty 16' tandem axle trailer around my property instead of using my pickup. Seems like a straight-forward ordeal...whadaya all think?

when you bolt it on put a plate on front side to strenghten it

One thing to remember when towing with a 3 point hitch is that you don't have any down pressure. So on a hill, it could start to rise up and cause control problems. You can get around this with a chain from the axle to the 3 point hitch to prevent upward movement.

I was initially concerned about the movement, but my tractor has a valve to lock the hitch in any position. Ya reckon that would suffice?

I think it only locks the up flow, at least on mine it does that.free up motion regardless of flow control.

Mine actually locks both directions. In fact, I locked it mid-way and tried to raise/lower...no go.
