Ball joint interchange between ford and international help??

Working on this IH 300, ball joints/drag link ends are $50 each:confused2:

Looking for a suitable (and affordable) solution, the ones that fit most of the common fords of the era (N-series, 600/601 and 800/801 series and more)......Seem to have the same 11/16" x 18TPI threads. And look darn similar. But no one lists the dimensions of the taper part and castle nut.

So has anyone been down this road?? Will they interchange?? Or is there something else that will work and not cost $50 per joint???

I'll try to make some phone calls and get this cleared up if no one on here knows.

Or....if anyone has one of the mentioned ford joints laying around, if they could take a measurment of the taper part. Diameter at the big end, small end, and taper length, I'll measure my old ones and compare??

Sucks that $50 per joint for the IH. IF the Ford ones will work, I can get all 4 for that price.

These guys list the same $13 part as fitting the fords, and internationals. Which begs the question, why do most other places list them separate, and the IH joint costing 4x's more.

I have seen it both ways. Ie seperat elistings, and then only machine specific listings.

I am hoping they are correct too.

I am sure the threads are correct. The taper part is what I am unsure about. IF the threads are correct, but it dont fit in the spindle, it does no good.

Do you happen to have, or would be able to measure the tapered hole on the spindle in one of the fords?? Big end, Small end, and thickness?? Just to comfirm??

IT is very strange that all-state-ag-parts list them as the same, but places like YTmag are different and the IH part is 4x's the cost.

I'll go measure mine now.

Here is what mine measure that I need the joints to fit.

The big end of the taper is hard to measure, but pretty close...

Last joint i had off was onmyh rowcrops mind you, and an offset.. and they were pretty big.....

G'day if you have a look at the sparex website they usually give you measurements of their ball joints if you find one then click on the part no and it will go to the part, then click on the make/model on the rhs of the pic and it should tell you what it will fit. You may be able to find a cheaper alternative that way

By typing in the IHC OEM part numbers, and doing as you say, it lists a bunch of ford models. Same as all state ag parts does.

Just wish I knew for sure before I order.....

Its just odd that most places like YTMAG, are charging $50+ for the joint if looked up under IHC, and $13 if pulled up under ford. Makes me wonder if there is indeed a difference??? Or if YTMAG is indeed pulling the parts from the same bin:confused3:

Was going to call them today, but got tied up. May have to give them a ring in the morning.

In the meantime, if anyone has a 1950's or 1960's ford of the models listed in my earlier link tore appart, if they could measure the spindle hole and the steering box hole and see how they stack up to my numbers?? It would be greatly appreciated.

reminds me of massey harris pony parts.. and allis G parts.

an allis G manifold is big $$ a massey harris pony manifold is cheap.


same manifold.

very similar n62 block .. innards mostly cross .. etc.

same deal with car and tractor parts. can find ford car and tractor parts that cross. tractor part is cheaper. especially points....
