Everything I read tells me a Honda Fit is the best "sensible" choice. Ok. Now let's think much less sensible...:D
I'm a car guy, a motorhead, and believe that life starts at 300hp...:dance1:

Have you tried driving a Honda Fit Sport?

We bought my daughter one back in 2002, she still has it. I've driven it on several short trips, like DC to Bryn Mar, PA. It handles well, with a light load, say 400 lbs. it's VERY nimble. I averaged over 40mpg. No significant repairs I've heard of, other than replacing tires.

I would have bought a second one for my son but he wouldn't drive what Sis drove so he got a Hyundai Elantra.

Things I really liked about the Fit was the capability to move seats etc. around and put in bulky things, and the seating headroom.

The Sport is not truly "sensible" but it was the color she wanted and it certainly gets out of it's own way quickly, unlike our Honda Civic Hybrid.

On the Civic we'd have to flip up the floormats, stick our feet down and "Flintstone it" to get any acceleration. :)

I think he knows in his head that the Honda Fit is the way to go. Problem seems to be it doesn't appeal to his heart.

Other hot small car options: MazdaSpeed 3 or 6. Subaru WRX, VW GTI.

Wouldn't the smart car motorhome show that driving a smartcar onto a trailer would work? Or is that motorhome wider than your trailer?

Also, some of the awd suggestions shouldn't be towed on a car dolly, as far as I have been told.

If you don't care about smart, have you looked into the charger redline? That might fill your need for HP.

absolutely, a 590hp hemi would do nicely. Just a tad large...

My best friend's son had a mint black S2000. Very nice car, small of course, and very low to the ground. I think I want to sit up a little higher and get my family jewels off the macadam.

Rear drive though. FWD would make things much simpler. Lube the rear bearings after so many miles and keep going.

Yeah, but good luck finding a car that you can still lube wheel bearings.

but they are "lubed for life", so you don't have to worry...

ok, I promise, not going to put a car in this trailer, but if I did, my nice greasable trailer bearings sure are a convenience, and if I got the ones that roll in oil, well, let's head to the Rockies. Too bad bearing assemblies don't have temp gauges on them; that would be slick, pun intended...;)

Nothing like getting into a nice tub of grease and playing with bearings.
