BX2370 vs. BX2670

I love my BX25D. At first I thought is this really worth the money. Since I have owned my Kubota it has paid for herself. My neighbors have me so busy that I don't have time to do my own yard work. But she pays for herself.

Great choice... I hope you don't regret springing for a BH. I recommend you put a Piranha tooth bar on your FEL. Amazing little add-on. This is what I did with by BX today on my 1.5acre sloping property.

Regret not getting a BH - perhaps I will. The problem in my mind is that a BH is too much of a nice to have option. If it wasn't such an expensive option I would probably would seriously consider getting it. But knowing all of the custom work and upgrades that we will be putting into the house, a BH is definitely a hard sell at this point in time. Our goal is to build our new home entirely on the equity that we have in our existing home without touching our investment capital. At least that is what the plan is if we don't go too crazy with the build.

That being said I definitely can see putting a Piranha tooth bar on the FEL - thanks for the tip.

2bad,

You may want to rethink the need for a cab, with the amount of time you will be spending blowing snow believe me a cab is a Must Have, heat in the cab is also a must have! The first time you blow snow into the wind ( something PEI has a lot of) and it comes back at you believe me you will rethink your decision to go cabless. Nothing worse than sitting in a puddle of water because the snow melted around your butt. Also do not know if you plan to pave your driveway , but snowblowers do not like rocks!

We have been going to PEI for 25 years and agree it is the most beautiful place. Where will you be building your home? We have always wanted to spend an entire summer on the island not just a week or so like we have done in the past. In fact when we retire in a few years we plan to make that happen!

Good luck and welcome to the Kubota club.

Pretty much the same here, I have been told time and again I would regret not having a BH, but that has yet to happen and we have two BX's and several other tractors, also have an older Case back hoe sitting in a garage out at another farm we don't use enough to keep running. We keep it for sentimental reasons as it belonged to our dad. When we need to do something our regular tractors won't do, we have a rental place that will deliver a mini excavator, tracked skid steer or back hoe and we have been money ahead.

No doubt for some a BH is essential, for us it is simply cheaper and easier to rent.

Enjoy your tractor, we have several tractors and still find the BX a great little machine.

I hear what you are saying about a cab. I had the same thoughts until I spoke to our cousin who lives in Stratford PEI. He has a Kubota GR2100 equipped with a MMM and a front mounted Snow Blower but no cab. He said that dressing well is key to surviving in the cold (good hat, ski googles, muff style ear protection, scarf, warm boots, good mitts, and snowmobile style jacket and pants). He actually found that he was too warm even in the dead of winter so he replaced the snowmobile jacket with one that was a little less warm. I'm going to give this a try the first season and see how it works out. The first year or two we'll only have compacted crushed stone laid down before the driveway gets fully paved. Will have to be VERY careful not to be sending stones rocketing through the windows.

Our 1 acre waterfront property is the community of River Meadows, which is within the town of Mermaid. It faces SW overlooking the water directly towards the capital city of Charlottetown. The sunsets and night views are just stunning. We are very fortunate to have found this gem of a property.

I'm reasonably sure that I won't miss having a BH too much. Like you said one option is that one can be rented. People are so friendly here it wouldn't surprise me if a kind neighbour offered me their services for a song.

Wouldn't be a bit surprised. I routinely bush hog a neighbor's property, doesn't take long. I have come home to find my road ditches mowed or a fenced fixed. A couple of years ago, I went to the barn to get my tractor out to clear the road past my house to the north, just as I pulled out, someone else was turning around on another Kubota making the return pass. I cleared the road past my house to the south and two other neighbors to the main road. If I hadn't done it, one of them would have.

So its going to be BX2370 with a HD Front Snow Blower, MMM and a FEL.

You need something on the back (implement or weight) to counterbalance the FEL or blower.

I know some people wear a snowmobile helmet when they use a snow blower.

Isn't the counterbalance / ballast box part of the FEL package?

Interesting idea and I'll have to look into that. However it may pose problems wearing the muff style ear protection. :D

Instead of purchasing the ballast box, get a box blade. You can use it for your drive and in your yard projects.

I'm still not sure if the ballast box comes with the FEL package. Regardless if it does or not it sounds like I should have it since I'm getting the FEL. The box blade has have strong appeal. Thanks!

The ballast box is not part of the FEL package and after pricing one, like others, I just use a box scraper for a counter weight. For those working in very tight quarters however, a ballast box whether home made or bought will work better.

I don't think so.When I priced a FEL for my previous BX2360 I was surprised that the grill guard was not part of it,it was sold separately.

You will need some type of implement (BH just saying :D) for your your rear ballast to get the most out of your FEL or snowblower. Backend will be too light naked. I do think a box blade would be a nice implement. I know I am envious of those who have them.

Just my opinion but I bought a ballast box with my first BX in 2003 and I don't think it's ever been on the tractor. I run with a back blade for ballast most of the time if not using the Backhoe. If I had it to do again I wouldn't buy the ballast box.

A box blade is a great ballast, it is heavy but close to the tractor and is a very useful implement.

To me... a ballast box is dead weight... okay literally. I can't say it is a waste but get something to put on the rear that is productive on its own as well.
