Mods to Engine Hoist

I have had this engine hoist for over 25 years and it has always taken up to much floor space. Have though about modifying it to take less space and finally got around to doing something about it.

Only had to buy some tubing and casters to make this happen.

Basically just cut the legs at the same distance the ram sticks out. I then inserted the new tubing in the cut of end of the leg and welded it to the end. The other end of the tube is then inserted in to the ram end of the lift, as needed. Could not find the exact tubing size so bought 2 1/2" tubing and welded angle and flat stock to fill the void. I removed the bolt that hooks the jack to the lifting arm and found that the hydraulic jack moves enough that the lift arm can fall to the lift arm support.

To use:
1. Loosen rope that holds the cutoff legs up.
2. Insert legs.
3. Raise lift arm and insert bold back thru the hydraulic jack.

Good idea.

Now go put 3-point hitch pins on the back of it.

That's an idea but since I have a FEL and Pallet Forks, it would be redundant.

Actually it can come in REALLY handy on the 3pt.

I am so stiff that I would have issues being able to see whats going behind me. I do have a boon pole tho. I like the front end loader better, so far.

I had thought of converting one I have to a folding version like the one attached. You just remove one pin, lower the leg and replace the pin.

With a forklift and rolling gantry crane I just don't use it anymore.

About the same here *(have forks on the FEL Vs forklift) but don't want to get rid of it The ready built ones are stored a little easier but it only takes me a few minutes to asm and disasm. Thought about buying a new one, from time to time, but this one is already paid for.
