County says no camping on your own land !!

This is crazy. Never heard of such around here. There must not be zoning laws like that here in South Georgia, or they're not enforced. Because I believe every hunting club around here has a camper on the property for hunters to camp in during hunting season. A buddy of mine is in a hunting lease on 100 something acres and he has an old camper he leaves out there to camp in all the time.

If there aren't any down here, I'm sure if we give it time there will be.

This country is doomed.

You OWN your land? HA! Stop paying taxes on it for several years and you will see the STATE owns it and you pay taxes so you can use it. Years ago the townships around here had no laws governing campers, mobile homes, trailers, tents, shacks, vans, semi boxes, or anything else people were living in. Most were crappy, dumpy, messy looking places that never got cleaned up. Rules were put into place to CLEAN THINGS UP. If everyone would have kept things neat and picked up, the rules would have not been needed.

I'm sorry. But whether I like it or not it shouldn't be mine or the counties business if someone else's land is trashy. After all it's THEIR land.. Or at least should be. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. If it makes them happy to have trash on their land whose business is it to say otherwise.

What if your clean, well kept property looses half its value because the neighbors is turning into a salvage yard? Yes, there are people out there that NEVER throw anything away, but, COLLECT EVERYTHING! Those people cost the neighbors land value and the townships tax revenue.

Absolutely---it is coming to a courthouse near you soon! This is what I'm saying here: With computers and email, this kind of zoning nazification is spreading like a virus from one state to another, via computers, from sea to shining sea! These zoning officials went to college with each other, "six degrees of seperation" style, and they belong to the same professional organizations like Zoning Officials of America (ZOA), etc., and they write model zoning codes at their annual conventions, just like all governmental associations do, and this is how our country is being homogenized towards one model of sameness, and a lack of individual freedom! They tout the greatness of diversity, while at the same time every locality in this country is becoming identical, LOSING our regional diversity, especially in its government control of every aspect of our lives! This makes it easier to control us! We are losing the "war" AND the battle, which is why I put this thread out here for people to wake up to the truth of where we are. Our ancestors fought a revolution over MUCH less than what we put up with in today's Amerika. Read the reasons in the Declaration of Independence that they revolted. It was a relatively minor list compared to the issues we face today. No, I'm not encouraging violence; just a purposeful expression of dis-satisfaction, and voting out people who think this is all just OK. There have been no amendments passed to the constitution to make all this stuff legal!

Which is what I stated earlier, these rules/laws/whatever get put in place for things that generally fall under 'for the common good'. However, if not properly worded they can be misconstrued or even intentionally twisted.

In this case, as someone already stated, the best approach is to get it changed/amended etc. If that means circulating a petition for signatures then shake a leg and get busy. It is often far easier to change the system by using the system than by fighting the system.

Helps a ton if you can find a sample regulation/law/whatever from somewhere else that does what you want and work to get a copy implemented where you live.

I DO have clean, well kept property.. actually 2 pieces of property.. and if my neighbors turn theirs into a salvage yard?? TOUGH!! Life isn't fair.. everybody needs to grow a pair and quit being whiny little girls... "but mommy... er.. I mean Mr. County Official, my property value will go down if you don't pass this law!".. whah.. whah... whah... People need to grow up.. but it's too late for that... short of a reset, we're doomed...

My property value has gone down a lot more because of our wonderful government than any trash in a neighbors yard...

Hehehe, I think you made a good point there, SoGa. I'm a bit north of you, but know Hahira, go through there often, at least used to. Me ancestors are from Candler County. I've got a few neighbors with a bit o' junque scattered around, but I'm good with it. No hazards nor nary mess like that, just stuff they might need sometime. Now, litter on ye roads - uh uh - I'll fight ye over that one. Don't go throwing nary trash on the roads I tell ye! Well, not ye personally, you get me drift.

Well boys, I am more not right today than normal for me - suffering from me fibromyalgia more than normal today. Anyway, hey, I'm for us being able to use OUR OWN land! Knucklehaided BMW driving hippies.

People do need to grow up, and part of being a grown-up is picking up after yourself. I have no pity for folks who are too lazy to take care of their land and let it turn into an trash heap. Hiding pure lazy shiftlessness behind property rights is a hoot, like something a teenager would dream up when told to pickup after themselves. People do need to grow up.

So it's the governments responsibility to tell the land owners to grow up and clean up?

Slippery slope.. Kinda like those "common sense" gun laws.. Shall not infringe means shall not infringe..

It's not the governments job to tell someone to clean up their land.. give them an inch and they'll take the whole world... oh wait.. they're already doing that..
