Good Morning!

Roy is looking for a job (always with success), David's friends come through again, and Texas is hot and dry, 106˚ yesterday and hotter today. (79˚ now)

Daugen's adventure in his land boat looks intriguing, I thing I'll follow along. Bon voyage.

I suppose the later we leave the less traffic we'll hit and we are trying to get there after lunch, not before.
This is a perfect example of where I have to rethink all my training of "get there early", after forty years of appointments, and being retired and saying, well, so what if we get there at two instead of one.
Particularly if we are cruising on the boat.

taking the laptop with me, will report if we go under an eleven foot bridge. Always wanted a convertible! :dance1:

Good morning and good luck!

As soon as I retired I let it be known that ALL optional driving would be dependent on me and the weather. The trip from Mississippi to Virginia used to be a special problem. If we had to get back for work on a Tuesday we would drive in the rain on Sunday or Monday. If you've driven that route you'll know how a storm front will often move up the Appalachians and you can be stuck in the storm for the whole drive. No more - looks like rain stay another day or two.

Second - you'll have to get up to a very high speed to make it a convertible. I've been peripherally involved in three accidents of military trucks being driven into bridges while they were on a trailer at speed. All it does it make room for a panoramic sun roof. Perhaps buying a convertible toad would be cheaper.

One door closes and another opens. Good luck

Boy isn't that the truth.
Sometimes we don't want them to close but I'm convinced the path to the good stuff is through the doors that close along the way.

Roy, I sincerely hope this job you mention turns out to be what you hope it is...you deserve that. And David...I am glad that you have friends who are supportive and helpful in your time of need.

Cool and overcast here, heading out to Best Buy later on, the hard drive in my 5 year old Toshiba laptop is going bad and rather than replace it I am upgrading to a Windows 8 laptop. Later on I will change the oil and filter in both my Saturn and the Deere, then continue numerous repair tasks. And I need to check to see if my suit still fits, the girlfriend and I are are attending a very fancy wedding and even fancier reception tomorrow...she tells me the reception is costing $55 per plate. If somebody takes a picture of us there, I will post it so you can see I am not as repulsive looking as some of you think...

It's gonna be darn hot here this weekend. My wife bought me a new hat for working outside on 100+ F days. It's over 18" across the brim. I have to steam and crease it so I don't look like the local Amish farmer, but it will sure keep the sun off my head and neck. It's made of palm straw and sells for around $29 at our local farm/feed store. :)

59 right now...high of 77 predicted with a 30% probability of rain.

Well, I did get a "potential" job offer yesterday. There are still details to work out and the final "OK" should be within the next couple days (I hope). I'll post more about this when (and if) that offer is finalized.

Good news. Hope you can get things worked out.

0900, cloudy, 80 with 91% humidity. Forecast high of 95 with 20% chance of rain. But I see a dark cloud to the northwest that looks like it has rain in it.

Roy, I never doubted you would find work. Working folks work. In 1960 when my mamma was carrying me, my daddy quite a good job in Tampa [making $4.10/hr] to move back home. Everyone up here said he was crazy for taking the chance. But there was one family friend, a woman who dressed and worked a farm like a man. She said, "Gene L------e isn't like all these sorry SOB's who say they are looking for work, all the while hoping and praying they don't find it. He isn't going to let his family go without. He will find work." And she was right. Daddy got hired as a Longshoreman, making $3.95/hr. Which was higher when you factor in the cost of living up here in the sticks. He kept that job until he retired. The days of working for one company for thirty years is over, but you will find something.
