Sounds as if traction clutch is stuck or out of adjustment.

What do u mean doesnt go in gear? does it grind? does it shift when not running? worked on a 1070 that had a stuck clutch. I was able to load it to bring to shop by starting it then using the lowest gear popping in gear with the gear shift. I thought i'd have to split it but was able to break the disk lose through a inspection cover on the right side of the machine.

If it's out of adjustment there should be an adjuster on the linkage underneath the clutch pedal

It does not grind. When you start it in neutral it will not shift into any gear. It does shift when it is not running. Is there a way to start it in gear? There is an inspection cover on right side. Very hard to see in there.

Get a light. The clutch has probably stuck to the pressure plate. You can dislodge it thru the inspection plate by tapping with a long screwdriver and small hammer. This is a common issue and can be prevented by wedging a short board against the clutch petal when the tractor is not in use, thereby separating the clutch and plate. Get someone to depress the clutch pedal while you watch thru the inspection hole. If the clutch and pressure plate doesn't separate, then they are stuck together. Good luck.

Good tip, uphill...Have you ever experienced any adverse effects to the pressure plate springs leaving them compressed for long periods of time with the pedal depressed? Just curious as to whether it might compromise the strength of the clutch long term..

Some model tractors have a pivoting latch to hold clutch pedal depressed when not in use just to aid with this problem. I've never heard of PP springs weakening from clutch pedal being blocked down.

A slight depression is all that is needed, just enough to separate the clutch from contacting the plate. As Tx Jim said, I don't think total depression would weaken the spring. Besides, the strength of clutch mashing against the plate is probably why they stick together While sitting (and maybe rust). He can watch thru the inspection hole and see how much depression is needed for separation. It's just easier to apply the stick by using the slight pressure. Can even be done by hand after you dismount.
