Is there no other place to buy hyd filters than from a bota dealer?

Not really.

I tried to cross reference the size, threads, and o-ring diameters to a common brand like a hastings, baldwin, donaldson, etc with no luck.

The bota filter also has a small ring manget just inside the o-ring. Kinda looks like 2 o-rings. So it is kinda a specialty filter. But teh $35-$40 every few years aint too bad.

Not for me it don't. Other than piece of mind in case anything were to happen.
