Rest in Peace
David, when I was working in my Dad's service station, we had a regular customer who was a fairly young widow with 2 small boys. She was driving an old worn out 6-cylinder manual transmission Chevrolet. And then one day she showed up in a brand new 1958 Chevrolet Nomad wagon. Her father-in-law had taken her to a Chevrolet dealership and told her to just pick out the one she wanted, and he'd pay for it. She picked that station wagon sitting on the showroom floor. When I raised the hood, I had to ask, "Why in the world did you pick this one?" She said, "What do you mean" and I told her I couldn't imagine her doing any hotrodding, so why get a car with a big V-8 and two 4-bbl carburetors. She had no idea what she had gotten. So it wasn't long until she was very unhappy with the gas mileage, went back to the dealer, and learned it would be expensive to change to a single carburetor and even then she would not be happy with the gas mileage compared to her old 6-cylinder Chevy.
