seems like if this stuff is ALREADY codified. it just needs to be enforced, vs passing YET another law into our bloated legal code...

I don't know Sound, it's sounds like Law Enforcement did not have the means to address the problem. I have encountered many a rolling road block on I-95 in Florida.

i see fl just passed a law that limits how slow you can go in the 'fast' lane. and it's a ticketable offense if you are under this limit with overtaking traffic behind you ( with limited exceptions ).

anyone think this one will stand a sniff test if tested?

One of the reasons the Autobahn wroks so well.. Slow to the right and NO passing on the right. If a car is overtaking you, you MUST move over to the right unless traffic says otherwise, but then, no one would be going that fast :)

Bird; That means the cop traveling at the speed limit on I-20 the other day was breaking the rules. He was impeding the flow of the rest of the traffic!

In some states (ie: Calif) that IS a ticketable offence - Impeding the flow of traffic. Even if that traffic is faster than the speed limit :)

if it's codified into law.. then it should be enforceable. either amend the law that's already there to add enforcemtn penalty.. or ditch it.. no room for a 'speecjh' to be in the book if it's not doing anything.

soooo manylaws on t he books. hard to believe we need yet another one... just enforce what we already have seems to be the correct path???

Anyone remember "yield to oncoming traffic" signs posted at highway entrance on ramps?
If anyone actually knew what they meant today we could have a two lane or three lane highway and everyone in the righthand most lane wouldn't have to merge left to let the one car on the on ramp jam up the three lanes already in progress on the highway?!:confused2::pullinghair:
Oh, and BTW, the yield sign is nothing more than an ignored triangle made from metal. I can't believe how many people are CLUELESS about yield signs, especially at roundabouts, traffic circles.
Don't even get me started about left lane idiots, or pass from any lane and weave your way through like a pac-man video morons!:punch::censored:

Oregon doesn't do "minimum speeds", at least they aren't posted. I did see a horse and buggy cruising down the freeway once, and I've ridden my bicycle on the shoulder on occasion.

It is, however, posted "slower traffic keep right" (except for passing?), or sometimes trucks keep right (I think).

We also have different speed limits for trucks and cars which a lot of people like, but I think is pretty stupid. I'd like all the traffic to be moving at close to the same speed.

It makes some sense to reserve the fast lanes for faster traffic. Doesn't Florida also make a lot of use of HOV lanes?

Boise posts "through traffic keep left" signs, presumably without a minimum speed.

Yeah, I've known of lots of places where it was dangerous to drive as slow as the speed limit. But the danger is in getting run over, or shot in a road rage incident, rather than a traffic citation.

Many years ago, I heard officers debate that; i.e., whether or not that would be a chargeable offense in Texas. Some think it would be, some think it would not be, but I've never personally known of anyone issuing or receiving a citation for impeding traffic if the driver was going the speed limit. And I've never looked it up in a law library to see whether there are any court cases that might establish a precedent.
