That 5.0l is a good engine, still don't know why they didn't go with that setup in a larger 5.7l 350 instead of the Ecoboost

The two "gadgets" I really like on my truck are the backup camera (makes hooking up trailers dead easy as well as just backing into tight spots) and the step in the tailgate (I'm just getting old). Got most of the other gadgets too which wouldn't hurt to not have but the camera and step are the most appreciated. There is definitely something to be said about simplicity though.

It shares the same bore spacing and deck height as the 4.6 mod motor. The mod motor is a small bore motor. So they could not increase the bore much, the 5.0 has a larger bore(3.629) and stroke(3.649) than the 4.6(bore 3.552, stroke 3.543). The only way they could increase the bore on the 5.0 was to plasma spray the cylinder walls. I guess they could have used 5.4 deck height and got a motor around 5.7L but they have the 6.2. The 6.2 can go to 7.0L.

It was a foggy morning and there are two large dumpster's at the top. This ramp at my marina. You can launch 8 boats atva time, 10 if you have good operators.

Anyway, new driver drove in and did not see the dumpster's till he was right on them due to the fog. He said he was turning around on the ramp. I think he was going too fast. Either way he got it sideways and rolled it in. What a mess.

No uncle of mine would be caught dead in a Dodge truck. Thats even with my family, cousins, owning a dealership. Its bad enough two drive GM's. One does have a Wrangler but that's as close as it gets.

There is rumors of a EcoBoost 5.0 with twin turbo's and dropping the 6.2.

Should be interesting.

I heard it won't be out int 2014. The 5.0 has bungs in the heads for direct injecton. I saw a bronco concept with a 5.0 ecoboost.

The reason the 5.0l is a good engine is because it DOESN'T need twin turbos to make power. Exactly why a well designed larger displacement direct injected N/A engine will be the next great engine. Not some twin turbo high tech money pit. Turbos and special cooling systems are "things I that don't need on my truck". The 6.2l is only 50HP/54lb.ft. more than the 5.0

GM may beat everyone to it with their new line of direct injected engines for 2014 too! The 6.2l d.i. will be a real monster.
