2014 Silverado/Sierra released

My thought is this: That truck had 4wd and the Gov-Lok, which locks in at least three of the four wheels. Lets say bone stock, but if it has a cheap tuner, installed, even better. Guy backs in, hooks up, and pulls forward easy unitl the weight of the boat is on the trailer, and then stops. He then punches it (from a stand still) and shifts the gear shift into "1" in that order. Tow / haul in or out, does not matter in my experience. Torque management limits the amount of power. The driver probably punched it, didn't go anywhere, and never looked at the tach. Probably didn't get past 3000 rpms. This happend on my 2004 on weird occasions, but if the wheels had any momentum, even the slightest roll, TM was never an issue. Only from a dead stop. Tow/haul seemed to have no effect. 2004 and 2005 were the first years of the drive-by-wire and TM and there was all kinds of complaints about them. Most were fixed by a simple software re-flash.

FWIW I agree on the torque management thing being a problem in the early 6.0L, I had a 2002 2500 Suburban with the 6.0L and it felt weak getting a trailer rolling. Until I had an aftermaket tune done, which removed the torque management. Before the tune I felt like my '05 5.3L 3.42 geared work truck did a better job of getting the torque to the ground.

This may very well be the issue. Like I have stated before this was a 2003 2500. I know it was a 4 speed and his later one, about a 09, it had a 6 speed and more power.

All of his trucks have been bone stock other than wheels and tires.

I am glad someone else has seen this issue.

I am with chis on Gm thing. I get tired of those commercials they say this is our best year ever. I would have a good year if I didn't owe my debt to. My brother drives Chevy products for his business. They just traded for new ones one truck front end was wore out , one blew a motor at ninety thousand one had transfer case problems but he still byes them.
I like watching nat geo border wars they drive them Tahoe' s when cameras on the dash you alway see check engine light on ha

I drove a 79 ford I got in high school till 06 it has 560000 miles on it still got it. Bought 06 frontier drove for 60000 miles traded it for what I have now is08 Titan I now have 120000 trouble free miles. I am ready for the new Nissan Titan to come out

Even the jeeps and power wagons they use get beat up. They are regularly on GSA auctions site and most of them say things like "check engine light on" "off road service vehicle" "dents" "emissions controls damaged". Sounds like a cool job...

I drive a GSA truck for work... my last dodge dakota was horrible. All kinds of stuff was wrong with that truck. We joke and say we get the monday mourning and friday afternoon trucks.

I turned it in at 70K and it was 6 yrs old. Had a cam or crank sensor go out in warrenty, power steering pump blow out and send metal through the system, those were under warrenty. Window motors replaced, had to get a new radiator due to leaking tanks seems, several sets of front brakes, drive shaft on the front, suspention was clapped out. But this was on a truck that sees a good bit of offroad use. There is probably more but i would ahve to look at records to remember it all. I have a 2012 colorado 5cyl now, its a way better truck than the dakota even thought about being!

From a guy that builds em. I work at Ft. Wayne GM truck assembly here in Indiana. We have built several 2014 pilot jobs (test trucks/not for general sale) in the last month. I think they are wonderful looking trucks and GM didn't "over do" the body style change like alot of us thought they would. I've got to see the GMC and Chevy up close and love the new B-pilar and crew style opening door on the extended cab. The Chevy grille has a Camaro style look to it and the Z-71 badges look great in the bottom left corner of the grill. We will also be offering a higher trim level with the new trucks to compete w the "Platinum Package" that Ford offers (a step above the GM LTZ). The interior and dash (IP) have a new layout that looks much more refined than our previous trucks. For the 1/2 ton crew cab lovers (built in Flint, MI), you will be able to get a full 6 1/2 foot box on the new 14 models. I see the GM bailout haters are already bashing before being able to see, drive, or touch one and that's OK. These folks will never buy one anyway. Still can't figure out why so many American people want to trash GM, an American company for taking a loan from the Government that they had to PAY BACK to keep jobs here in OUR Country when the Federal Government throws away our tax dollars in outside countries on all sorts of projects and grants that we will never get any type of benefit from. Examples: US Foreign Aid: What Are Your Tax Dollars Paying For In Other Countries?

I have a 2011 GMC built at your plant and I can say that it is impressive...I agree with your statements the the bailout yakkers would't buy anything GM anyway.

Did some back of the envelope math the other night...Based on a $60K average income of the said 1,000,000 jobs saved, the 15% income tax rate that most of them probably paid washed out the stock loss...It was par in the end...As it sould have been.

It didn't really save jobs but it did protect the union.

Ahh yes.... Let the Union hating begin. It's the UAW's fault that GM couldn't forecast the future and oversee their own finances.

What's the expected HP and torque on them?

I have to admit I din't really care about he bail out - at least we used our money at home for a change. I rather see our money go to our country and help our friends/neighbors/family's than anywhere else.....

Not hating on unions at all, just sayin how it is. Bailout didn't save any jobs, probably costed more on the end of non union and other contractors to GM. The bailout did protect the union, that was its purpose.

Pretty much.

How you figure, Hoss? Auto workers build the final product. Not oversee the financial dept. at GM headquarters in Detroit the last time I checked. You just keep buying Toyota's and feeding Japanese families. I do dig your tractor though.

Point taken. I will admit some of our non union vendors did get a raw deal. Our 07 national contract was reopened and revised also. Health benifits were cut, OT revisions were made, and wadges wer cut dramatically for any new employees just to name a few. I haven't had a raise in 8 yrs but I'm greatful to still have a job w GM. BTW. I lived in Ft. Worth, TX for 3 years and worked at Arlington Assembly with the launch of the 07 bodystyle on the Tahoe, Yukon, and Escalade. THe fullsize SUV's are getting a new design for 14 also.

Yeah, the thing that sucks about that is that the vendors will have to charge more to make up for it or prepare incase it happens again.

Anyway I look more forward to the SUV release. I'll be very interested in one of those, I already have 2 trucks. The expedition I've never cared for much.
