Hi Everyone,

Stumbled onto this web site to learn more about what kind of tractor I wanted to buy for my small 5ac farm I am about to start. Several members here have been helpful and I think this is a good site for some solid information. As a kid, I farmed with my dad and I learned all I know from him, left for the college/city life, realized that my father was much wiser than I gave him credit for. I am buying a small 30 hp tractor and trying to reclaim some land that has grown way out of control for about 25 years. I am in need of some used implements. Where is a good site that I can find some good used implements hog, tiller, plow, box blade...?

Thanks for your help,

Clem

I'd tell the dealers in your area what you're looking for, especially the one you bought your tractor from. My dealer takes in used equipment all the time. They also may allow you to put up a note on some type of for sale board.
You're in a large metro area so you probably have contractor auctions, they can be good places to pick stuff up.
The best way to find a good deal is buy something, then the next day you'll see it for half price ;)

Welcome to TBN! For equipment, check with the local ag agent, farm supply stores, farm groups, etc. You'll also meet your fellow farmer types.

Have you tried local auctions with farm equipment? BTW, welcome aboard. I used to live south of you in Manatee County. I used to fish your area and Tampa Bay, Skyway Bridge area many times.

I just started my search, but I will keep them in mind. Been living in Pinellas for 24 years, have a real itch for the country life again...

thanks for the info, I am doing this from long distance for the moment, so I have to take all the online sources I can find.

I don't have much luck with finding good used stuff, and your right, after I buy it new and pay retail, I find a great deal!

As I understand it he said the farm he is going to reclaim is in Maine. Not much in the way of large metro areas here.

To the OP, I'd start with craigslist for used implements and don't forget the long underwear.

Yes, that's the case, I am trying to do this long distance for the time being. It has not been easy, so I am trying to locate equipment in Maine online from Florida. So most of my shopping has been online. It's been a hoot trying tractors here as they are configured slightly differently than they are in Maine.
