When fueling up my New Holland Boomer tractor, the fuel from the gas can fell into the tank. I have tried to fish it out with some "grabbers", but no luck. Does anyone have any ideas how I can get it out?

Their advice was to leave it in there and not worry about it.
Welcome to the funnel in fuel tank club.
I'm new on here, and also a novice at mowing, and cannot find how to post a question, so i will just reply to this question with a question. I dropped a wooden stick that I use to check the fuel level (no gauge on tank) into the tank. Now it is on the bottom of the tank. Should I try to fish it out (I was afraid of removing a sensor), or will it deteriorate over time and mess up the engine?

You will have to start your own club, The stick in the tank club.
I think about the plastic breaking down sometimes with different fuels and solvents but then I think, heck, they store the stuff in plastic so I guess it must not be a problem. Thanks for the info, I'm not sure if the diesel would break down the plastic over time and cause any issues. I don't think that I am prepared to try and remove the fuel tank, so I don't think that is an option.
Try using a wire clothes hanger to fish it out. Cut it to size and put a hook on the end of it.
