Hi Paul

I was talking to my mechanic last week and apparently the L45 has the same engine in it as your 5740. Having installed the exhaust stack I have been trying to figure out where I can install the compressor when I add A/C to my cab next spring. If you get a chance, can you send me a couple of photos of the compressor installation on your machine?

Regards,

Lauren

Here you go Lauren. I hope this helps you out. The compressor is right on the top of the engine so it should be an easy install. You might even get the bracket from Kubota if it's the same engine  I removed the coolant tank to try and get a better photo for you. As you can see the condenser is mounted in front of the rad. If you need more just ask.
Cheers, Paul

Jeez, Paul- just when I think you can't do anything better, you come along with something like this. No doubt, you looked into taking a photo from below, too, but didn't because nothing was visible. Great work, even if you were just taking pics. And I don't even have any pretensions of mounting any AC on my old B8200, without a cab.

Thanks my buddy. No point snappy a photo from below because its like you said, there's nothing there to see. Glad you liked the photos.i put in the pointers and circles just to make sure everyone could see the subject
That's what this site is about sit, helping each other
Hope all is well with you and yours :)

Thanks very much Paul. The unit I will be installing from Hammond A/C is a roof mounted unit so I think all they have to do is mount the compressor on the engine. It looks like on your machine the aircleaner is in front of the radiator whereas mine is on top of the engine so between it and the muffler there is not a lot of room on top of the L45 engine. The photos are great for reference when I meet with Hammond in the spring.

Regards,

Lauren

P.S. When are you posting those four new mods?

Glad you guys are happy with those stacks.

I guess it all depends on how you use your tractors. The horizontals are great for mowing around trees and wooded fence rows because of the limbs bending the stacks when you screw up. The stuff I mow requires a lowered rops and ducking a lot.

Your kindly welcome sir. Yes my air filter is up front of the rad. I wouldn't let that be an issue. Just make a relocation kit and put the breather where you want it. Doing it that way will allow you to have more flexibility when doing your AC. If you need anything else just let me know

Now my thoughts on vertical and horizontal exhaust systems.

I think designing the "perfect" exhaust is fairly easy. You could have both a vertical and horizontal system in tandem.
There could be a quick release for the stack with a exhaust cut off valve so that when the stack is removed you turn the valve to direct the exhaust out to the horizontal section.
I actually almost did it when I designed my vertical exhaust but figured it would be a waste of time seeing I'd never use the horizontal exhaust but it IS possible to do. What an opportunity for manufactures to be able to design and offer an exhaust kit that could off both types of exhaust in one system. It might be the selling point for selling the machine. I see so many opportunities in tractor design that's not explored :confused3:

Just my :2cents: worth.

I've wondered about that very thing. And I've wondered if the major manufacturers ever actually talk to their customers. Many of us bought new tractors. So tell me this: after owning your tractor for a few years, how many have heard from the company that made it? I know I haven't.

I would have thought that ignoring proven customers is more than poor business; it seems downright weird.
If there's a reason to ignore the customer, what could it possibly be?

A lot of the ideas passed around on the forum are very simple and profitable. Nothing difficult. Stuff like exhaust options and seat options....how hard is that? Or take tool boxes... now there's a perfect example. How many tractor owners would buy a decent sized tool box that was designed to fit their model tractor?

It's a puzzle. So how do we get their attention? Any ideas?
