i have said this before, lucky i dont live over there with you lot as i would have a fleet of various yanmars and a pending divorce...... it looks to be a YM146 which are very good mowers. i have one but she is a bit sad.

If I was going to sell a lawn tractor...and post pictures of it...I think I'd have it setting on a freshly mowed lawn.

That mower is listed in Western MA but Millerton is actually a town in NY (south of the CT/MA line). Sounds fishy to me.

Then why isn't it also posted in NW CT and at least the Hudson Valley NY CL? The only listing for it is on WMA, and that's why I said it was fishy.

I was looking for a Subaru and found one listed only in the Reno Craigslist, 100+ miles east of my home in the California central valley. But the ad said it could be shown local by appointment. It turned out to be in poor condition but the (local) seller's idiot son showed me their other, gorgeous near-new Subaru and encouraged me test drive it. I noticed the VIN plate was glued not riveted, and the alarm module was in the glovebox. So I stopped by the nearby CHP field office and asked them to run the plates/VIN. The officer took one look out the window and said take it back before you get in trouble.
I asked the seller about the alarm module removed and he said they had to cut all the wires because they couldn't figure out how to shut it off.
A month later I read of a large auto-theft ring bust.
Moral of the story: if a local item is only advertised 100 miles away, buyer beware. At the minimum, the seller wants to never see you again.

Only one post per Email address, maybe that's why. I recently bought a motorcycle from Albany NY. I have another from NH. My tractor came from central MA. I live in W. MA. When something you want comes up... you gotta make a move.

If you try and post "the same thing" in multiple regions, you get blocked... I've run into that myself. But, I've also been able to successfully post in four or five different regions that are all fairly close to me too. I guess it depends on what you're trying to post and what the listings read like.
Like you, I've bought from a variety of places... Two snowmobiles from central NH, a third from Albany, NY. Sold my riding mower to someone in the Troy, NY area even though I technically fit the Hartford, CT region. I was considering an equipment trailer from PA and another from NH before deciding on one locally.
Craigslist doesn't make it easy for you to reach larger geographies (I suspect this will never improve since eBay owns half of CL and they would want you to sell via THEIR site to reach more people) and most of the users don't know how to use search engines like SearchTempest to quickly scan multiple locations.

CL will pull adds from other local areas as well. If i search the area im technically in, for say yanmar. Maybe 4 will come up in that area, but in the bottom of those it lists "other nearby listings" which are areas basically just as close but listed under a different region, say in another direction. But because i live in the middle of nowhere, there is like 4 areas i need to look if i am looking for somethig.

But CL will only pick up listings from surrounding areas if your local search yields less than 10 results. And, by paring down your search to get "few enough" results locally, you end up potentially missing out on a good deal locally.

I have 4 email addresses. That allows me to post in 4 different areas. CL keys in on your address. Also, if you use searchtempest.com you can tailor your search to the distance you want.
