Alright,I took my tractor in for them to fix the leaking down tilt on loader and caught a dang case a NEW tractor fever:yuck:.
A new 135 with a cab is what I would prescribe for that fever. Might not be too healthy on the wallet though.:licking:

Yeah 70grand may have to find another wife:laughing: But can trade the 5040 in on a 6040 with cab,4x4,ldr or $1500 more for another 7040:confused3:,thinking just a 6040 to rake and shred with at the leases.

That will probably fix it until the next time he bales without that cab.

Anyone who can find and support another wife ... well he shouldn't trade one in keep it for the "wifes" to use!!!

haying2.JPG Nope I bale in the a/c its the raker who gets the 5040. :dance1:Idea next time I bale, tell my father to be busy and ask the wife to help rake. But the shredding part with the 5040 is what kills the sinus's.

Was talking about if I went and spent 70grand would have to get another wife, cause this one done left my:censored::laughing:

Yeah I was just kiddin she told me to get what ever I wonted within reason,so the leaves out the m135gx:D. I like my 5040,its hard to let it go,cant keep it if I get a new. They offered me 20,500 has 325hrs and a new 6040 is 37,400,so really only going to be paying 16,900 for a new cab tractor doesnt seem that bad. But she did say get the one I wont and thats the 8540 and its 43,500,thats were I come to a wont or need a 85hp tractor, when I been getting it done with what I have. The whole issue started is when I have my boys and I only have the 5040 they cannot ride with me,well they can but I dont feel safe shredding with either on tractor,so that leaves me to either just not do the mowing/spraying and put it off or get a baby sitter. I usually just put it off then everything needs done and im behind on everything. I hate spending money and would like to wait another year but my tractor is out of warrenty now and by this time next year will have another 300hrs on it,just seems like the time is right if im gonna do it,mite as well do it now.... tractor choices are 6040($37,400),7040($38,900),8540($43,500) all 4x4,cab,loader,sync.shuttle and my trade-in 0f $20,500....

A few years ago, around these parts, you couldn't hardly give away a higher HP used tractor. The operating costs for fuel, tires and maintenance just didn't add up when you could do the same job with the same implements with a smaller tractor.
If your getting into thousand acre category operations and are willing to spend hundreds of thousands more in addition to the tractor on new bigger implements to match the higher horsepower tractors working capacity then it might make sense. Might want to talk to your accountant about the depreciation plan for your farming operation before letting the tractor dealer buy your supper. Just my :2cents:

You could list the 5040 for sale and see if you can get a little more out of it within a few weeks. I am sure the quotes you got will be good for that long. That might make it a little easier to step up to what you want. If you are anything like me, you will wish in a couple of years that you had gotten what you wanted. Then you will find yourself back at the dealer for more service, and here we go again.
Just my :2cents:
Just another thought the M9540 is only $1500 more.:D

Yep ... BUT perhaps you could get more for the trade in on more tractor ... just tell them you'll take the M9540 and you want $22K for your trade !!!

Sorry couldn't help myself.:ashamed: It don't take of a little more a few times and you have added a lot more.
My stepdad bought a M9540 a couple years ago. He started looking at the M7040 and decided he wanted the extra loader capacity and power of the M8540. The dealer near us does not stock any. He said that most people want the extra power of the M9540 for the extra money. May be a sales gimick, but it worked. He bought the M9540 they had on the lot. I ran it a few times. It is a really nice machine.

If you sell the tractor outright I wonder if you couldn't get a better price on both the tractor you currently have and the tractor you want to buy. I know some dealers charge more for tractors when taking a trade (helps them justify the trade price they quoted). Did you price the new tractor as a cash deal with no trade?

I love my Farmall for tedding/raking but I do hope to add a couple more cab tractors to my fleet at some point. I bought the Farmall for one specific job and it needed to be an open station for that job. Tedding is ok since that is a rather quick job but it would still be better in a cab. I'm looking to upgrade my rake to something bigger so hopefully that will speed up the job and I am also looking to upgrade the tedder to a 6 or 8 basket. I need to cover more ground faster as I try to cut three days in a row so the second and third days are very busy as I bounce from mowing to tedding to raking between fields. Speeding up each process will only make life easier and each implement needs its own tractor so I don't need to worry about changing back and forth. So I don't know if your looking to upgrade any of your equipment in the future but if you are make sure the cab tractor is going to be powerful enough to handle any future upgrades since I imagine you will be keeping it around for a while.

Yeah I knew all prices before we talked about my tractor. But just need the size to pull a rake, hay cutter,5x4 baler, and 15ft batwing. My 5040 has done all but the baler, havent tried it. 7040 pulls baler no problem.....

The 8540 im looking at is DTC-1,4x4,cab,loader $43,500,the HDC(hyd.shuttle alittle more) but I have the DTC(sync.shuttle and dont mind using clutch). My dealer and Kenneth(salesman) have been great, would like to stay with them and so far have sent him 3 others to buy
(1-M6040,1-L3800,1-M135X all very happy) from them, they know me by name and always get up from desk to shake my hand when walk threw door. But thanks friend,I am going to call my dealer Monday and see can get alittle more for my trade,he knows how I have done all the service(Kubota oil/filters),always keep it washed(barn stored), and when I unloaded it next to the new could hardly even tell it was a year and 2mnths old, looked just like new.

Quick question: Will a 95hp with cab and loader, be close to the same as 70hp 4x4,cab,loader pulling hills, baler and such? Have some descent hills with some sand, not much bucket work, mostly loading hay, unloading pallets of feed. I use 4x4 alot but just havent ever ran the bigger HP and just wondered if the performance would be close I know there is gonna be some, but is it alot?...
