"Style A" vs. "Style B" head gasket

Hi --

I have a 2007 Jinma 354 with a Y485 engine. I am replacing the head gasket. I've noticed that the head gasket is available as either "style A" or "style B." Here is a link to one:

Here's the question:
The parts kit that came with my tractor has a Style A. When I opened the engine up I saw that it has a Style B installed. To be safe I've ordered a Style B to replace it with what's in it, I'm just curious if anyone knows what the difference is.

Izod golf gasket. I may have one hanging in my closet.:laughing::laughing:

It would be very helpful if you could post pics of "Style A". The difference could be as little as material, or change in fire ring depth, changes in coolant passages. Really hard to say without seeing.

I don't think Yangdong made 2- different Y485 engines, however there is a Yangdong Y485 but there is Also a Laidong 485 engine,this same problem comes up with Water pumps all the time the engines are very close but NOT the same, we will get a call from a customer saying they have a Y485 when in fact it was a Laidong.I sent a e-mail off to my guy at Yangdong to see if he can help clear this up

Style B has about twice as many passages for coolant.
I now notice that Style A says it's for TY485 and Style B says it's for Yang Dong 485. If the manual that came with my tractor is to be trusted I have the Yang Dong.

Offhand, I'd say they are for completely different engines.

Offhand or not, bob's correct. Style A is for JIANGSU-JIANGHUAI engine TY485. Style B is for YANG DONG engine Y485. The 485 part is a generic Chinese designator; 4 cylinders of 85mm bore each. The engine data plate will specify which one you have.

I have one of each, they look just like the pictures. The style B came inside the engine, the style A came with the gasket kit. I'm now glad I ordered the Style B and didn't try to make do with what I had.
