Hi guys....

I recently purchased a John Deere 70 (Tecumseh VH70 ???). It's OK, I just like the OLD look... Anyway, I took the Engine apart... Do my Magic and now it Starts with 1st or 2nd Pull even weather are in the 25- 30's...

Anyway., I wanted to see if any of you guys have turned a Pull Start Engines to an Electric Start?

I have been researching around on YouTube for Videos, I did do a Cheesy Drill Starter... It works, LOL... I just don't want to damage anything since the Torch is high. It's only a 7HP Engine so it's OK, but just incase...

See Sample (NOT MINE):

I know, you guys gonna tell me that since it Starts on 1st or 2nd pull why bother.... Well, I just wanted to sit down and press a Button and it Starts, rather than lift the Hood, Pull the Cord, then shut the Hood and then sit back down.... Kinda inconvenience if you asked me...

I don't know if any of you guys have done it before... Maybe you guys can give me some Tips... Anything will / would help.... Although I know I'm gonna have to come up with my own invetion.

My Flywheel do NOT have the Gears... I was thinking buying a Flywheel with Gears on it and then add an Electric Starter to it. My Engine is a 7HP Tecumseh Vertical... I don't know how old it is because the previous Owner sprayed paint everything black as you can see in the Pix.... :(

Would most of the Tecumseh Flywheels will Fit or made the same? Well at least where the hole where you put down the Shaft / Coil / Magneto? I have enclosed some pix, and the Example of a Flywheel I found on Ebay with Gears (Last Image)... Since mine doesn't have Gears... Maybe this will work?

Please take a look and give me some advice or input... Anything would be greatly appreciated !!!

Thank you !!!

The damage you will do, starting like the video, will be to the electric drill you are using. When the engine starts, it has a higher rpm than the drill. As you noticed, it wrenched a bit from your hand when the engine started. (certainly took longer than one pull on a cord :) ).
You might find a starter that will match up to the ring gear on the flywheel, but you will notice that there is a method to disengage the starter when the motor fires up.
Enjoy the experimentation and rigging. Should be fun and a learning experience.

Hi,

That VID on Youtube is not mine :( Also, that's a Push Lawn Mower not a Lawn Tractor... LNFAO :D:D:D:D

It's an example of what I made, lol. Put your glasses on,hehehehehe

Yah, the RPM is a lot higher... That's why I want a different Flywheel, mine doesn't have Gears... I would have done it by now if it has Gears...

CORRECTIONS: It's a TECUMSEH H70 ENGINE on my JD 70.

I found a few Flywheels on ebay, but affraid it won't lined up with my Coil / Magneto :(

Searching still.... LOL
