A friend has a L3650 and the clutch seems to be slipping from his description. It has 1200 hrs and the clutch has never been touched.

He said that he checked the WSM and it had all of the parts, etc. but no specific instructions on how to adjust the clutch.

Does anyone have a diagram or method to adjust the clutch? Probably any older L-series would likely be the same or similar.

A search here and on Google didn't turn up anything relevant.

About a week ago I ask advice for buying a 1989 47hp.....well I passed it up.....now I looking at a L3650 ,FEL,Backhoe...one owner..
Any comments on this tractor out there
I have 60 + acres of hay field and horses....I know I would use it..but don't want to spend $ on upkeep of older tractor....is this the one for me.

Best advice is... start your own thread, with relevant title. This thread... over 4 years since last post...

Edit... if you're mechanically inclined, I would go for it. My friend has a similar L2850, I've done extensive work to it, and parts availability is good, and it's comparably easy to work on...

The L3650 is a very good machine - no weak points, no recurring issues. An older L3650's upkeep is about the same as on a new machine. The L3250, L3450, L3650 machines are a perfect size - compact enough to fit into a garage or small barn, but big enough to handle 5-6 foot attachments.

If this one's backhoe is the 3-point hitch type (most common on these) check very carefully for cracks or weld repairs anywhere on the machine.

Used tractors end up in one of two categories. The first type (and most desirable) is the typical homeowner machine with less than 2000 hours on it, that still looks good, no leaks, all sheet metal present and intact, no blue smoke, pto and travel clutches engage and release correctly, maybe worn tires but no major obvious battle scars. The other type violates many or all of these, usually from a life of hard use by multiple operators (rental or other commercial setting).

Used tractors are often fairly easy to get an impression of. They tend to show their experience right on the surface. If you post some pics some useful comments may come from the group. Take care, Dick B.
