Oil & Fuel jack oil

i have a floor jack that needs some oil in it i know regular jack oil would be ideal to put in it but was wondering if type f tranmission oil would work seeing as how i have plenty of that on hand i would appreciate any suggestions or recomendations on this matter

A hydraulic/transmission oil works fine. Used it in my jacks for years with no problem.

would there be a difference between type f and dexron/mercon??
