I like the idea. What method are you implementing in the mounting? You stated earlier that if things didn't work out, you could always remove it and replace the former step.

The step is mounted by three bolts. The nuts are already welded to the tractor. With the step removed I used longer bolts to mount the tool box after drilling holes in it.

Here are pictures of the left step and the bolts holding the tool box on the right side.

Bob77064 , Great move! I mounted a tool box on my Mahindra in the same place. Works great and its been there for over 1000 hours of use now! My tool box came off an old NH hay baler that i bought for parts, Used almost everything from the old pile of scrap. The box from the bailer fit perfectly in the given space, the cover overlaps the sides of the box and its mounted so the cover opens away from the tractor. The brush actually close it instead of opening it. If you zoom on the picture you can see it better. I'll try to get another pic tomorrow. Bob, just noticed you have only one hammer in there, and its small, how come? No vice grips wheres the wire? . . .Ha HA! ! ! . . . John

Bob,

What model is your LS? Ive been contemplating putting a toolbox on my 4041 and do not want to drill holes. This looks like the way to go, as I never get on or off the tractor from the loader valve side anyways. Let me know what color blue you get to match when you paint it..

Mine is an R3039, yours should be set up the same way. The only holes I had to drill were in the tool box.

Boyd: I welded up some 2" angle and bolted it to the plate behind the fuel tank on my LS 3033 and used 2 ammo cans. Can't get any good pict's with the BH on.Maybe when Mowing season comes and I take the BH off.
Boomer: New Alexandria Tractor Supply has touch up paint that's not fact LS but looks real close.

There is hardly any good place on tractors to mount a tool box if you want to put more than a 4" screwdriver in it. I think you need to put a good heavy paint job on your box as it is susceptable to lots of mud from the tires getting on it and dragging in the weeds etc.
Even on my LS 7010 there is hardly anywhere to mount a tool box so I ended up putting mine on the grill guard. Sorry no photos right now. I drilled some holes in the pipe grill guard and bolted on a big ole plastic box that I had taking up room in my shop. I can put chains, big hammers and lots of tools in it as it is about 24" tall and 18 or so" wide. It is one of the Walmart boxes with wheels on it and a front panel that drops down. Got a regular size handy tool box section on top. Since I wasnt using it in the shop, I thought why not put it on the tractor. It is much too large to mount anywhere else. One drawback to it is that it is pretty tight getting into it with the FEL down but it is still accessible.

You are right, I just might paint it black. There are lots more tools that I want to carry.
