Buying Advice Backhoe for Kubota B3030

Hello Everyone,

I'm not exactly a new member (I've been reading discussions and advice since 2007) but I have not had much time to get involved since I purchased my Kubota B3030 HSD back then. My attachments include:

LA403 FEL
60" MMM
Land Pride 60" landscape rake
Balast Box

I live on 7+ acres (about 2+ acres fairly level and the rest slopped (15-30%)).
I have about 1/3 the property cleared and the rest is wooded. I was thinking of purchasing a backhoe (with subframe) for my tractor but I'm not sure if I want to try and find one used or buy new. Also, would the BH77 fit the tractor or would I have to try and locate a BH75. I know Woods also makes a backhoe that would fit (BH80 I think). Does anyone have any advice or experience with a backhoe for the B3030 HSD.

I would be using the backhoe to dig drainage ditches and remove small stumps etc.

The BH77 will fit your tractor, just have to get the proper sub frame kit. Your dealer should be able to order everything you need, it'll probably be close to $8K though with the hoe, sub frame, bucket(s) etc.


I personally like the Kubota hoe a lot better, but if you do decide to go with a Woods hoe, the BH70 is the one you probably want. The BH80 will physically fit, but it is too much hoe for that size tractor.

It would be best just to rent an excavator or full size backhoe to complete the job, rather than tying up 8k on a backhoe you only use a couple of times.

I have to agree with you, it would probably be better to hire a contractor to do drainage ditch work etc. plus the room it takes up for storage when not in use. It would be a great attachment to have but not really cost effective.
