I am looking at a Kubota B8200. I can have it for free if I can get it, the trick is I will need to pull or drive it across a river. It was on some land someone purchased in my family.

It is manual steering, 2wd, no loader. It's been sitting outside probably all its life and has about 70% of the paint left, what's left is faded. The tires are dry rotted. It has not been ran in 5-10 years.

We took a battery and some starting fluid and tried to start it without any luck.

I took the injector lines off then cranked the engine but there was only small spurts that came out of the lines, how much fuel should come out of the injector lines once they are removed?

Do any of you guys have any tricks to start a diesel engine that has been sitting?

Thanks,
Philip

Dump the old fuel and put some fresh in it. New fuel filter and bleed all the lines. I'd also change the oil before I ran it.

The fuel looks and smells good. Does diesel go bad to where it won't run? I know gas will go bad pretty fast, but how about diesel?

53GMC,

I have a B9200HST, and have run out of fuel several times.

Push in the fuel shut off knob if it has one. Pull out to stop the engine.

First, remove the fuel line at the input to the filter and see if there is a good fuel flow.

Change out the diesel fuel for fresh diesel.

Get new fuel filter.

Loosen the first injector and turn engine over until fuel flows out. Re tighten the injector. Do the same for all.

Hold key to the left for 20 seconds. Then turn key to start with throttle about 1/4

Works for me every time.

I have a brother that has a house in Hickory NC, and Sunset Beach NC. I am from Dillon, SC

very little if you are referring to what gets squirted into the cylinder for each firing.

...and diesel fuel will go bad.

I am talking about the injector lines, NOT the injectors. I took the tube off of the injector.

Do all of the B8200's have a hi-mid-low range, or do they just have 4 gears?

Thanks.

I am talking about the injector lines too. very little fuel, much less then a drop of fuel comes out per injection.

I am not familiar with the transmissions available on that model.

Don't use starting fluid in it. Starting fluid can destroy a diesel engine.

You should have a good flow to the filter.

If you have loosen the line on the injector, should only be a little bit of fuel while cranking.

You may have to crank for awhile, but only do short crank cycles. Let the starter cool some before trying to start again,

Hit the glow plugs for about 20 to 30 sec before you start.

Not sure if you are talking about hydro, but my B9200 HST has three speed range.
