"floating" rear 3ph snow blower

I've been using my new rear 3ph snow blower now and have a little question.

It seems when I lower it down and blow now, it likes to "float" around... Not because the links are loose, but it looks like it's moving around on the pins for the bottom links. There is about 2" of space on the links and where it mounts to the blower where it likes to move around.. It feels weird and is hard to go straight.

Are there spacers or something else that can be used to stop this from happening?

Are your rears loaded and do you have snow chains?

Its not a bad description, your snow blower is simply contacting the compacted snow in front of it as the implement carrier is progressing in reverse to cast it away. If you operate in a slower gear this will be less noticeable.

If you are still concerend about this I believ you can purchase mounting pins with multiple holes in them to compensate /stop the sideways movement somewhat. Try tighening the lower links inward and operating in a slower gear after adjusting the lower links inward/tight.

do you mean where the arms pin to the blower? If so i cut peices of pipe long enough to take up the slack:thumbsup:

If it is "floating around" on the lift arm pins you could put fat fender washers between the ball end and hitch pin, then tighten up the check chains to pull OUT from each other. No slack, no slop, no float.

Easier still, go to the hardware store and purchase a dozen of so 3/4" washers and fill the spaces to obtain a snug fit.
That and make sure your lift arm chains (or sway turnbuckles) are snugged up tight.
Also on mine I find that I need to re tighten occasionally.
Properly adjusted with the blower raised you should no be able to make the blower swing from side to side.

Thanks, Guys... the washer solution sounds the best. I have the turnbuckles tight for sure, but the space between the pins and the mounts for the blower leave a lot of "play". I will play around with things.

It's sort of a weird feeling when it happens, then you try to turn to compensate and it goes the other way, etc... etc... lol..

Nope. Just the mounts are a lot wider than that.

Imagine the I;s are each side of the mount on the blower... the dashes are the pin and the small 0 is the ball. When the blower is on the ground, imagine the os sliding from side to side. It's only an inch or two, but on a BX1860 that big blower is felt when it "floats" around like that.

Aren't you tightening your turnbuckles? Should be no slop.
