It is probably 304 Stainless Steel. It is non magnetic. I use a magnetic when I am sorting through stainless steel nuts,bolts, screws etc.
Your stainless steel kitchen knife and fork is probably 400 series, it is magnetic.

We just bought one after looking at many. Most have steel painted sides and magnets work there if the side is open, otherwise if you must, I guess there are always metal screws. :laughing:

If you can use the side of the fridge it will hold magnets, It can be a pain but the front is not cluttered.

We have this javaian shadow magnet to play with plus alphabet to assemble funny messages - important part of the kitchen it was.

303 304 not magnetic but good sst 416 430 magnetic cheaper sst will rust or tarnish eventually.

My wife doesn't care for the S/S look, nor I. Hopefully this craze to build everything in s/s will go away before we have to replace our appliances.
An old friend who used to build everything in stainless for his personal use so it would last longer (when you own a machine shop with a huge supply of raw materials, you can make it out of whatever you want) a few years ago decided to make a part for himself. Somebody questioned why he didn't make it out of S/S, and he simply said that ferrous would outlast him, why waste the s/s...

Some just look stainless. I was surprised a few years ago when I brought home my top-of-the-line Jenn-Aire "stainless" refrigerator and found that my magnets stuck to it perfectly.

I don't even know the color of our fridge because there is stuff on top of stuff. My oldest daughter even decorates my shop fridge.

Every time I think of stainless steel I remember the low mount western mirrors that came on my '79 F-150, I kept them so polished I could practically use the metal surface for the mirror by reversing them....:laughing:

But stainless steel appliances...no thanks. Have always had almond or bisque colors, going back to '78 !!!

I think the S/S craze just wastes a valuable resource. It would be different if the stainless actually extended the life of the refridgerator, but they are putting cheaper and cheaper parts in them, making the lifespan shorter and shorter. With todays lifespan of a new fridge, unpainted steel might outlast the working parts, lol.

when i remodeled the basement bar 2 years ago i went with the SS look, cause i got a great price on some appliances that a contractor was getting rid of....all brand new and never previously installed.

I cant keep fingerprints off that crap. Never again

It was a fridge from a friend, better than our old whirlepool, I dont think we would get SS if we had a choice

Why would you want to hide that beautiful finish? If you want to leave notes and want a stainless steel finish-get one with an LCD monitor on it. The LCD screen allsow you to leave notes and watch TV.
