Had my tractor parked outside during deer season. Went to fire it up and the fan was shooting out acorns like a gattling gun!

I've got to do something about that.

Ever since the black snake set up shop in my building, the mouse population has been ...manageable.

Trust me, this is a love hate relationship. I love the fact that I have fewer mice, but I DO NOT like to find him...seems like its always when I bend over or squat down or stick my head or hand into something. I scream, the snake wants to scream and we scare the bejesus out of each other. That's the part I hate.

It's that time of year, so he spends his days curled up in his hypothermic coma - that is unless I fire up the wood stove for a couple of days straight. Otherwise I am in charge of mouse control till spring.

As for the exposed wiring, you could get some of the liquid electrical tape from Lowes and paint it on there. It sets really nice and makes it waterproof as well as keeping it hidden from other elements.

Opened up the side cover on my manure spreader yesterday that had been sitting all summer, and - mouse nest! Went to pull the junk out and it was like a freakin' commune in there, were at least three of them. One of them spooked and ran right up the sleeve of my coveralls, had to shed them and shake him out. No real damage that I could see, mostly just gearbox and chains in there...

One pair of mice can produce about a thousand offspring in a years time under ideal circumstances. So any you see need to be erradicated or they start adding up quickly.

As far as mice or rats dryer sheets never worked for me. Ended up using my exgirlfriends undergarments picked from the dirty clothes basket. Didn't even have to put them in under engine compartment etc. Just on floor near or under tractor. Rodent infestation was immediately defeated ! :)

Good grief!

I fueled the tractor today and raised the hood to check the air screens.

Keep in mind I park out in the rain at the moment!

Well right up next to the fuel filler was a MOUSE NEST!

They had fled some time ago, but they had some really cushy stuff I have no idea where it came from and they CHEWED ALL the INSULATION off one fof the wires for the Fuel Gauge!!! it is literally bare wire.

They did a pretty good number on the plastic protector too!

I wonder how much Kioti will charge me for that unit!

I'm buying dryer sheets tomorrow!

GRRRRR!
David

You need snakes. The most efficient rodent control. Ya don't have to feed em and if they get hurt your wife isn't going to insist it needs to go to the vet.

I just had a mouse catastrophe. My new cat is pretty useless as a mouser. His predecessor was rodent death. This little guy from the shelter lacks the killer instinct. Trouble is, I have a one cat limit at any given time. So, he's won the free ride while he continues to be Mr. Nice Guy. For him, mice are good fun, and while he plays with them, he neglects the coup de gras. He obviously sees them as recyclable toys.

Anyway, they can get into this old leaky cabin a thousand ways. I set traps where the cat can't get to them. The one I had set behind the washing machine was tripped, but looked to be still set. It had snapped on the washing machine hose. How long ago, I don't know. So, anyway, the buggers built a nest of pink fiberglass insulation on top of the back side of the washing machine's tub. I did a couple big loads of wash the other day that included most of my clothes. I put on clean stuff for Thanksgiving and started to itch really bad.

I washed fiberglass into my clothes. I found the nest and vacuumed it out, tried rewashing the clothes. Didn't work. I trapped the mice really soon after I discovered the tripped trap. Too late for my clothes though. I wear sweats all the time except for the day I go to town. You can't get good sweats at thrift stores. Everyone wears them out it seems. My best work duds are apparently destroyed.

I use the 5 gal bucket mouse trap. And put out mouse poison.

Keeps them down, but never out.

Just remember that mice (and the diseases they spread) have caused more human death than all the wars in history combined.
