SUDT vs UDT for BX-24 Official Kubota Recommendation

Changed my hydraulic oil and filter, cleaned the screen etc..at 233 hrs. Second time, first was around 50 hrs.

I checked the Workshop Manual from Kubota just to be sure I remembered it right from almost 3 years ago...

That's when I saw an interesting note that ought to put all the UDT vs SUDT(2) threads to bed.

Since the UDT is not a multi-grade that sort of throws a bad light on all the dealers that say UDT is fine, that is all they use yada yada..

Notice they don't say one has to use SUDT but many other oils are NOT multi-grade including UDT.

I'd swear my manual says either udt or sudt is OK for my 5030. Will be interesting to see what other's say.

It very well may for a 5030- but the title of the thread says BX-24

agreed! That's why I was explicit. Two options exist :

Kubota stands by it's manual.
Kubota says its manual is overly restrictive.

Since UDT's viscosity is near that of SAE 10 when it is cold and near that of SAE 30 when it is hot, why is it not considered a multi-viscosity oil?

The WSM for my BX2660 reads the same as Skyco's. It also says that the factory fluid installed by Kubota is SUDT.

You cant always trust a Kubota manual. I have some that have parts break downs in them that he parts are listed wrong and have wrong numbers ect ect ect. I do not believe a whole lot of effort goes into checking these. Many have conflicting maint schedules in thier books also.

Don't really care, I have used Ambra, Case, Kubota SUDT, UDT, Sinclair etc. for years and will continue to do so, if it blows, I'll fix and you can say, "I told you so", but I'm not particularly concerned.

Yes, my dealer who has been in business for over 50 years only stocks UDT most of the time.

I agree. The manuals are outdated and behind the times. Or just dumbed down...

Use either UDT or SUDT and be fine. Heck, several aftermarket fluids are fine too.

I thought that Kubota came out with a new oil that replaced UDT and SUDT (SUDT II or something like that)...?
