blueriver, the fingers are part of the pressure plate assembly. The to bearing presses on them and they lift the actual pressure plate. In my mind, if the fingers are miss adjusted the plate wont rise evenly and thus the clutch is more likely to drag/engage early/etc. ... This would be harder on the throw out bearing too because the fingers would be pressing on the bearings face with much different forces and thereby tend to rock the bearing back and forth as the engine rotated.

Understood .. and they showed me that. There where marks around the many fingers from the T.O. bearing where it had been wearing against them ... they said those marks are no concern, the T.O. was not total toast, it still was functioning but was taking a heck of a beating.

I had never seen the action of a T.O. bearing until yesterday when he showed me how in worked .. I was amazed at how little it moved. I can see now how the slighest adjustment can have an impact on its ability to function.

So, I quess they know best and when they set the freeplay thats where it will be. I am worried in the event after a few hrs if the shuttle quits again and adjustment needs to be done to the freeplay ... will I do it right?

Its home parked in the barn and all seems to be working real fine. Remember I told you guys how when it was done the first time the clutch had to only be let out just a bit for the tractor to move ... well now its back to like it was about an inch of freeplay and when you release the clutch it comes up about 3" before the tractor moves.

Sure am glad the dealership took care of me 100%

Good news! They owed it to you ... and then some. You are out the inconvenience and lost time due to their faulty 1st effort. They obviously paid diligent attention this time. Did they ever own up to what it was they did wrong?

It is good news. They feel that I over adjusted and removed the freeplay that caused it.

If you recall and perhaps you don't. After the first install ... a few hrs into using the tractor the shuttle stopped shifting. I called from the hay field and he advised me to adjust the freeplay until it shifted smooth which I did and then a few hours later I experienced the noise. He assured me it was not anything related to the clucth go ahead and use the tractor until the off season then they would get to it ... our conversation was if its clutch related they would stand behind it anything else would be mine ... cause the warranty left me in June!!!

Well they did excatly that at their cost and I am pleased.

I do have to agree and let me tell you both Branson and the dealer stood up to the plate on this.

Think about it, I purchase a repo, Branson transfers the remaining warranty. I experience clutch problems ... a normal wear item. The dealer states he felt the tractor clutch was not properly set up by the selling dealer (in Florida) Branson says its a normal wear item and warranty will not cover it. I send an email to Branson and ask them to reconsider based on the dealers statement and they agree to cover it under warranty, I adjust the freeplay per the dealer and they stand behind what they said!!!

Thats pretty darn top of the line ... In my opinion anyone considering a tractor should give Branson and their dealers a second look. As well if your within driving distance of Ardmore Oklahoma stop in and talk about purchasing a tractor from Agri Products. Scott is the type of man who is easy to talk to, a straight shooter, knowlegable about the products and take it from someone who knows ... he does as he says he will.

I recall. Sounds like double talk. You only removed enuf play to stop drag and let the shuttle shift. How can that be too much if there was nothing wrong with the clutch? Theyve blamed you falsely and bought your gratitude in a sly way by fixing something they were the root cause of. ... and you nor we get to learn anything by them telling you what was the true cause.

Sure is nice to have her back home ... I really won't litteraly put maybe 15 hrs on before spring hay season ... so I am hoping coming spring all is well.
