Of course there's different DSL speeds. I used to have the slower DSL, but now http://www.speedtest.net/result/1602916337.png

Thanks Bird, we are on the very fringe of DSL range here, a quarter mile further and we would basically have no benefit from DSL. The laptop I am using right now with a wireless connection tests out at just a shade over 2000 kbps, which is really slow but still 4X faster than the maximum we could get from Hughesnet satellite service. Slow internet speed is about the only thing I dislike about country living.

By the way, i am using IE9, but can't remember just when I upgraded to that. My computer occasionally slows down or it gets to where clicking on the "up" arrow on the left side of the page results in jerky movement instead of smooth scrolling, just as it has the last couple of days. So this morning, I used the "Internet Options" in IE9 to delete the browsing history, then restarted the computer and that always fixes it.

Just did some more checking...our family room desktop that is hardwired to the router tests out at 2200 kbps, the laptop I gave the original test results on is wireless and 20 feet from the router, and delivers a shade over 2000 kbps, and my basement desktop is using a USB wireless adapter, that one checks out at 1895 kbps. The furnace ductwork is directly overhead and enclosed in drywall, which blocks some of the signal. I have measured the actual vertical distance from the adapter and router as five feet.
