Brr!!! -24F/-31C today

Hi, I just went out for my morning coffee. It was -31C (that's about -24F) without windchill. My truck wasn't happy with me. It was only -20C (-4F) yesterday so I didn't plug the block heater in... It's plugged in now.

This whole "Global Warming" thing is a hard sell with me. And from my point of view, a little warming would be ok. The planet was a lot warmer when the dinosaurs were around, and they were big... there must have been plenty of food around back then. And in the Carboniferous Period (that's when all the coal was deposited) the planet was a giant jungle, and about 10-15 degrees warmer on average and life flourished... Just sayin'

I did have my old 1966 Ford 5000 running yesterday (-20C/-4F) to clear snow. It liked being plugged in for a few hours, but it started right up. And ran great after it warmed up although the hydraulics were sluggish for the first while.

It's too cold today, I'm just going to hibernate...

I have family there in Ft St John, and always wonder how they deal with the weather. That's just too cold for me. 70 degrees F here today in TX and beautiful outside. I'm in shorts and a T Shirt!!!!

Now that is what I call extreme cold weather conditions. You are probably used to living in those conditions, but never the less, please stay warm and safe.

That's a bit chilly. I agree with the whole global warming thing. I'll burn some styrofoam and run my 2 stroke today to do my part to warm things up a little

oh no way too early for that around here. It was in the 20 degrees F around here this morning, but now it is sunny and in the low 50's. Going to change this coming week with a chance of rain/freezing rain/snow on Wednesday and Thursday.

Ouch! We have been in the 40's here in iowegian area, and I do not know what I am going to do when it gets cold out, cause I have been freezing my keester off!! I think I will add a little c o to the air today by driving to get some chili beans to make methane for green house gasses. Maybe that will warm things up.

I love the raw cold, find it so rejuvenating!! What is the coldest it gets up there??

Dang..That is way too cold for this early in the year..Here in N.B its been fairly blamy and + 12 but we know how that works..could be -12 tommorrow..Throw another log on the fire and heres to hibernating!:thumbsup:..

5* F this morning. A little cool but it's going to get cooler without a doubt. I don't mind the cold so much, I guess if I did I would have been moving south instead of north. It is the extreme heat that I can't handle. That being said, I would think most people that live north wouldn't mind a "little" global warming.

It is suppose to get back up to the forties by the end of the week

There are people who will laugh at this, but that's a dry cold.. I think between 20 and 32 feels colder then below 20. Here in central Indiana we have been having mild winters which seem colder then when it's below 20 and stays there.

You are correct!! We get the nasty damp cold here, surrounded by water. I would take dry and colder any day..

THIS will sound funny to some, I as well as many others look forward to the cold, and it's rejuvenating properties. Could not live in a warm climate year round.

My dad retired down in Yuma AZ, I asked him how he could stand the heat in the summer, his reply, "it's a dry heat" my reply, "ya, so is the oven and you don't see me sticking my head it there" he laughed, I miss him he passed on back in May just one week short of his 81 st birthday.

Yes high humidity does make it feel much colder.

I live lakeside.
Before the lake freezes over it is miserable!----- damp cold.
As soon as it is frozen it gets real nice, feels like 5-10 deg warmer than it actually is.
Course being on south eastern shore don't help as I get all prevailing winds.
BUT my tractor is ready! blower installed, plow blade hooked up and all fluids changed for winter.

YES! Much rather have it -10C than +5C. At -20 it gets so dry here that it seems to seldom snow, but at +5 I hate going outside to do anything. Minus 10 and sunny will see us ice fishing in our shirtsleeves, at -20 we put on our coats and hats.
Today was the last day of the deer (rifle) hunt. Two weeks of clear nights with a full moon in the middle of them. Most days cloudy and miserable. Bah, humbug.
Forcast highs above freezing all next week. Bring on the cold, clear winter so the mud freezes and I can get back to work outside in comfort...
