What are you guys using to clear woods in your yard .. I have been using my front bucket on my bx 23 so far but looking for a better way.. I also have a brush hog and a box scraper..

That's a broad question. If I could knock it down with the Brush Hog, that would be my weapon of choice. If bigger than that, then dig it out with the loader.

Woods...like a stand of big trees? If your talking limbs and debris in the yard then I use a RatchetRake.

I back the rotary mower into it as much as possible. For the big stuff, you have to go "hands-on" with a chain saw. Cut it to manageable sized pieces. Then, front loader or chain to carry or move it to a burn pile.

It's work, no doubt about that.

everything listed works...just remember the hydro fan can be taken out by twigs if you don't have the belly mower or the skid plate on...

I'm in the process of cleaning my woods also. Rotary cutter and ratchet rake for what it will reach and handle. Chain saw and loppers for the bigger stuff and brush forks to haul out the larger stuff that the rotary cutter can't chew up.

THIS:
The New BXpanded Piranha Toothbar
Devours brush and saplings! Digs like a conventional tooth bar. Curled down, will rake to a seed bed. Flat back for back-dragging smooth. Compatible with your your BXpanded Quick-On Forks to haul off the debris.
Other applications available.

For BX 50 and 60 Series the new Under Armor protects that vulnerable fan. Installs in seconds.

Too new for our web site. Email contact@bxpanded.com for details.

That appears to hang off the mower lift arms and toggle over some bolts further up front. I was thinking of doing something like that for my BX2230 for the mid and front regions with some plywood. I was still thinking of a Bro-Tek for the rear though because it allows the mid pto shaft through.

The Mid Mount Mower provides really good under body protection when it's on the tractor. For most of our customers' use, we didn't feel that increasing the cost or complicating the install of either the mower or the Under Armor was justified by trying to accomodate the mid-pto with the plate on. The Under Armor removes or re-installs in about 30 seconds with no tools.

We tried to provide as much protection as practical from the front and from the sides. Notice that the UA covers the fuel pump and filter. We also incorporated several carefully located vents to allow plenty of air to reach the fan and transaxle.

The currently available version of the Under Armor fits only the later 50 and 60 series BXs such as the BX2350, BX2360, BX24, BX25. Due to differences in the tractor's underbody, it unfortunately, does not fit the earlier BX2200, BX2230, BX22 or BX23.

Thanks for your comments and questions.
Cheers,
Harry

Extremely interested in that Under Armor, does it fit the BX2660 and how much? Do you take VISA?

Harry,

Is the under armor compatible with the rear skid plate in place??

What is a Ratchet Rake? I am very interested.

I can't find it on everything attachments.

Pic please?

To the OP, I use my WR Long RGB 72 for the land clearing I am doing right now. But I suspect I am in a slightly different situation as I am clearing 5 acres to become horse pasture.

Thanks in advance,
David

Sorry, my omission. Fits the BX2660. Yes we take Visa. We prefer not to post pricing as these threads are around for years and pricing might change. It is priced agressively.
Send me an email with your address and I can give you more details, pricing and shipping costs.
Thanks,
Harry

Go to http://www.ratchetrake.com and check out the video. You can purchase at Tractor Supply only.

That is VERY interesting!!!

It looks like you push in flat, the bottom rakes/rips and the top edge cuts thicker materials.

Then you tilt the bucket down and backdrag both edges to clear.

Right?

Thanks again.

This is some of what I am clearing...

David
