Going to look at a 4300 this week

Yeah, I'm actually not a big fan of electronics in any vehicle. I'm wondering whether these e-Hydro systems will still be working in 20 years.

The deal does include the Service manual on CD, which is a welcome extra.

If that 4310 holds up as well as my buddy's...you'll be in good shape!

BTW, since you're getting the service manual, I'm sure you'll get the operator's manual too. If not, that's still on the Deere website (sorry, I don't have a link).

$12K is a great price!!!

Got the 4310. 2006 w/ 800 hrs, a 430 loader, 60" 7-iron deck, and the MX-5. It also has rear SCVs and the air ride seat. Synchro rather than hydro trans. I went back and forth on that for quite a while. Probably after using it for a year or two, I'll wish I would have got hydro. But probably 80% of my usage will be pasture mowing, brush cutting over the long haul. Short-term, I've got a bunch of projects like some light grading and a whole bunch of postholes to dig.

I figured I could put the extra for a hydro machine into implements, like a loader-mounted hydraulic auger.

It does take some adjusting to go "backwards" from the hydro I've been used to on the rental machines. You've got a be a lot more ready on the brakes, and it's more controls to juggle between clutch, brakes, and the implement you're running.

But despite working in the high-tech world professionally (or maybe because of it), I'm still inclined to fewer electronics rather than more.

Anyway, here she is:

The price actually came in a bit less than that, but I had $200 tied up in getting there and back to pick it up.

I'm digging through the manuals right now to figure out why the mower deck doesn't lift. The cylinder actuates just find - looks like something isn't hooked up right. I'll start another thread on that over in Owning/Operating if I can't figure it out.

Hi Tim!
The 4310 looks great!! I'm sure you'll be fine with the transmission...now, is it a sync-reverser, or a collarshift (sync-reverser has the forward-reverse lever to the left of the steering wheel)? IIRC, the 4x10 series reverser does not require clutching between forward and reverse....but confirm that as I'm not 100% sure. My 4400 has the older sync-reverser and I do have to use the clutch.
Although I'm sure you've read the threads on using Fluid Film, I'll reiterate spraying the linkages on the gear and range levers where they enter the transmission case....smooths 'em right out.

Keep us posted on how you make out with the mower. I use a RFM and have never had a mid-mount type, so I can't help you.

I'd say you made a dam good deal there from the looks of it. An air ride seat no less...Wow.

Thanks Roy. It is not the reverser, and I would have preferred that. But for the price I couldn't pass this one up.

I'm on the Fluid Film - I assume farm stores have it? We have a local outfit here called Race Brothers that I like to send most of my business to.

Oh, you'll do fine with that collarshift transmission! IRC, the gears are synchroed so you can shift on the move (but read the manual to confirm this).
And yep, you got a great deal...no doubt!

I just read up on Fluid Film. Looks like I'm going to go through that by the gallon. Is there anything it doesn't work on?

I'm all set to put in on the tractor, the deck, the motorcycles, the guns, the dogs, my kids...

Don't forget the wife...

Yeah, it's pretty good as a lubricant/preservative for anything. There have been a number of recent threads on how people use it. Do a search on TBN for "Fluid Film" (thread titles only!) and see for yourself.
