Looks like this morning we'll be hearing that familiar "Chainsaw Symphony" all up and down the East Coast.
Wet snows and trees still in leaf make for an evening of candlelight and Scrabble.:D
I shot this an hour into the storm Saturday morning. Now the sumac branch is under a foot of slush. Along with LOTS of other limbs!
I lost parts of several old apple trees, a chestnut, and the Spanish Oak by the pond. From the sounds out in the woods last night, I'm think I am set for firewood the rest of this century:laughing:

How did you survive the storm? With Pix, of course!

Not enough to shovel. Will let the sun melt it off the driveway. Prediction ran from 2 to 20 at various times and weather experts. Duanesburg NY in Western Schenectady County

Have fun with your big clean up job, Mother Nature at work.

This happened to us several years ago when we got about 7" of wet snow with the apples still all leaved out. They were all devistated and are just now coming back but look terribley misshapen. I was real worried about last nites predicted snow but we were lucky and only got 2". Just clearing the birches off the road gave me firewood for a couple year.

We got a good 8" or so in south central PA. This was a classic "Nor'Easter" and, if it had been a dry snow, reckon we'd have seen 15" or so on the ground.

When I was out (during the snow) with my dog, we'd hear the cracking and snapping...and we lost power for about 12 hours (better then a lot of folks though!).

The pictures are of my drive closest to the road...it's in there somewhere. I'll find it today...

Roy, do you know how much snow the area between Bedford and Cumberland MD got? I tried calling my neighbor but I think his phone lines may be down.

Sorry...can't help you there.
This was a pretty narrow band of snow. The projections I saw yesterday (on PA weather channels) looked to come north east and western MD would have been right in the path.
Still a lot of folks without power or phones...try his cell phone? BTW, don't get too worried if you can't get him on a cell phone...probably no way to recharge the battery if his power is out.

We got up this morning to about two feet of white very heavy snow. Tough to push around or blow. Just hope it gets warm and melts off so we can rake the darn leaves up!

yikes - what part of NH are you in Wayne. We were luckier than I thought

We are located about 10 miles south west of Concord and 10 miles north west of Manchester. Just high enough in elevation that it was all snow. Local TV station indicated that Dunbarton got 21 inches, but I believe in our immediate area is was slightly over 24 inches. Who really cares as it will melt off this coming week with temps in the 50's. Just heck having it come this early. I just had a shoulder operation and cannot use my right arm, actually can't do a darn thing for about 8 weeks so I am depending on my sons, wife and neighbors to do things for me. Not a normal thing for me to deal with.

Worse thing is I cannot hunt!

I live right on the border with NH, But you are still a ways from us. I am glad. Had an uncle in Goffstown. They flooded his little farm for a flood control project back in the 50's.

Not being able to hunt is a bigger problem than the snow. I used to hunt all the seasons in both VT and NH. Start in Sept with NH bow and end in Dec with NH rifle. Somewhere along the line it got to be to much and I stay on my own side of the river now. :)

Hope your sholder heals up in good shape.

Rotator cuff?

/ October Snows #13
Some cuff damage along with two tendons torn off, ended up with 6 studs on the bone and the tendons attached. The cuff itself had some damage as well, so I guess one would say I did a full destruction job on it. Start Rehab today

Gordon we are about 6 miles north of Goffstown up route 13. We also have a summer place in up-state New York and have done bird hunting up there, but the cost of all the hunting just doesn't make it practical anymore. Although they are small we have more deer right here in the woods behind the house.

Southeast New Hampshire got 12". It was so wet and the ground wasn't even close to frozen, it wasn't worth plowing. Took this picture standing in the hay fields behind the horse barn. Thought it was neat to see that much snow with the leaves still on the oaks and beech trees.

Wal-Mart has good prices on rubber stretch bands. Much better than the throw away bands the rehab folks will give you. Keep working and good luck.

Well, I am all new with this rehab deal and had my first appointment yesterday. Can't say too much as it is too early to really figure this out. I know I have to keep working with them until I have the strength back and mobility. Just a major hang up in ones lifestyle. Guess I have not be exposed to stretch bands Yet!
