Nobody likes to do mechanical work, in horrid, ambient winter temperatures.
Which is precisely why I force myself, discipline myself, to spend one of the gorgeous, autumn days in September or October doing maintenance. Honestly, I pay little to no attention to hour meters, because I am familiar with my usage of each piece of my equipment. I just prefer the Annual Maintenance Festival that happens in my shop, each fall.
Everything, if it's got an engine, it gets the once over, appropriate to it's age, use, scheduled maintenance, etc. Push lawn mower, riding lawn mower, walk behind roto tiller, Tractor, truck, boat motor lower end, etc, etc.
Stem to stern annual check ups. Attendance by all machines is mandatory. Done, and I no longer have to even think about it. I don't want to be doing maintenance in the dead of winter, nor during my busy summer growing season. We all have to find a way that works for us, and this is mine.
