I think the rippers would be fairly easy to make with an O/A torch, and a large angle grinder, just make a pattern, torch out the shapes, and grind until perfect. $100 sounds like alot per ripper, are you sure they meant $100 PER TOOTH?

When I built my ripper / counterweight I bought the shanks from Agri-Supply. Back then they were about $9.00 a piece.

I built a makeshift tooth bar for my back blade out of Railroad Spikes. Rippers a different but Spikes could be engineered at an angle to do a fair job on a box scraper too. Plus they are usually Free and very hard.

What does the teeth look like? Do they have holes in center or notches in front or back? Teeth are available for less than the price you where quoted, the types I mentioned are about 20-30 bucks each and come in different lengths( regular or long)
