Branson 4720 PTO failure

Could we get an update on the PTO performance? Mine just did the same thing I think. Where did they adjust the pressure?

It's an easy thing for the dealer to test. There is a port where you screw in a gauge, then an adjustment on the electric/hydraulic valve. Of course if the clutches have been slipping and are worn, you will need a new clutchpack. Cranking up the pressure on a worn clutch pack is like closing the barn doors after the animals are out.

I don't want to specify pressures and instructions here, as surely someone will misunderstand something I said and then get in trouble and I'd not want to be responsible for that.

Thanks Dave. It looks like a trip to the dealer. Probably going to need to replace the drive clutches while it is cracked open.

The PTO clutch pack is in a wet area of the trans and does not require that the tractor be split at the bellhousing as does the drive clutch. So, not much helpful overlapping labor. It is basically two independent operations.

That is great news! I thought they would need to split弾r in half. What is the difficulty level on the PTO clutch pack? Can a pretty handy J-O-A-T handle it or does it require specialized tools? Anyone have a repair guideline on this operation?

Thanks Dave!

The 4720 is a two-stage clutch. The 4720i is an electric over hydraulic PTO with a single stage clutch. We need to figure which one you have.

Thanks Dave, you have been a big help. I will start tearing it down tonight if I can stand the heat in the barn. Right at 100F now and it isn't even noon yet.

On your 4720, do you have to push a BUTTON or toggle and pull a lever to turn on the pto? = 4720i

OR... do you just pull a lever to turn it on? = 4720
