SQ600 on a BX-2200?

hmm, with 16.5 pto hp with shortage of min 8.5 hp to 23.5 hp ? With such a large cutter, you will be giving the tractor a workout for sure, just not efficently.

Is there a reason why you ask about such a large cutter for the BX? borrowing? already have it? plan to buy?

IMHO, I would buy within the tractor pto 16.5hp and look at the upper range of required HP needed for heavy stuff. 40 hp is more then double with BX can handle. The 48 is a much better fit.

I use a 60" Squealer Bush Hog on a B2920. It is a heavy mower, weighing over 600# and is so big the weight is carried way back. Most of the time from a cutting standpoint, I don't have any problem with it, but sometimes if I get behind on the cutting, I have to really back off. If I was to buy again, I would probably try to find a 54", but all I am aware of is Woods that makes one.

I can get a nice SQ600 for only $300 bucks. That's about 1/2 the price of a clean used one in my area. If it could handle it, it seemed like a good deal. Maybe I oughta think about a 48" instead.

builder- it does sound like a good deal though...;)

I would actually prefer a 42" on a BX, but I have seen 48" cutters in use, and being transported on one, and the owner likes it.

That's what I thought, too!
I have 2 lots to cut, but they're only 1 acre of brush each. Thought a 4'-5' hog on my BX would be perfect. I'll wait until a good deal comes along on a 4'.
Found a Howse 4' for $400.

I use a 48" behind my BX2350. It seems to handle it just fine, but I think anything bigger would be to much. I've never really used mine in heavy grass, so I don't know how well it would do for power in thick grass. On flat ground, a BX might not do to bad with a 5 footer.

I have a cheap dull 48 and my bx 2350 does fine. I think it would be cool if someone would make a small drawbar mower.

I had a Woods 48 rotary cutter on my 2000 BX2200. It seemed a little heavy for the hitch. I broke the stabilizer bar on the hitch but may not have had it properly adjusted. It did cut ok though. I used it to cut the back pasture if the grass got to high and to cut my 25 pampas grass plants (each is about 4 ft in diameter).
