I've found myself in need of a bit more aggressive approach for ground engagement with the bucket of my FEL,
I have priced a Tooth bar Verses having teeth welded directly onto the bucket,....... this welding person advised me that welding teeth on is the best, he then said that the bars are cheap and would bend..... so I'm bringing this question to the Pro's
tooth-bar or weld-on-teeth?

here is a better description of my tractor and my needs
Yanmar 1700 2-wd 4 ft Bucket, Ga. red clay extra front weight is critical as I don't need anymore than necessary, However a tooth bar could provide more strength to the cutting edge, the cost to have teeth welded on is about equal to a tooth-bar and would be lighter weight but will not provide any additional strength,

I would get the tooth bar. I have/had one on both my tractors. I say toothbar because there will be a time where your going to what to remove it for whatever reason (smooth back dragging). They just bolt on, bolt off. Takes 2 minutes. With the welded teeth, your stuck with them forever :)

Since I grew up and lived around Gainesville, the snow isn't going to be an issue. Welded on are better, actually, bolted on individual teeth are best, but that is more in line with your heavy industrial product. Back dragging for smoothness is a minor concern. A scrape blade turned around will give you that finished appearance. A reduced bucket angle when back dragging will reduce the "raked" look. Most of the time its valuable for catching rocks, particularly like is found around you, and for getting the roots out. Tooth bars bend easily and don't last long in my experience particularly in the NE GA red clay.

How about building one of these? Of course the teeth are in the non use position. I try to baby my front end loader as much as possible, the 3-point is another story!
