I remember someone here saying the clutch was kept for emergency situations where you hit something and need to quickly stop power to the PTO. That people naturally step on a pedal over pushing a lever or pressing a button.

We're getting the Quick Attach FEL with the 2 levers for changing out the loader
implements if that's what you mean.
Yep, that's the one.
I engage the PTO by gradually moving the lever forward with the tractor at about 1500 RPM's. At about 1/2 way engaged the PTO begins to turn. Once the implement is rotating, or engaged, I fully engage the PTO lever and then run the tractor RPM's up to the 540 PTO RPM level. For the L3940, it puts the tractor at just above 2600 RPM's. I've pushed her up to at least 2900 RPM's for long durations without any problems. She runs like a Timex: "Takes a lickin and keeps on ticken"! :cool2:
BTW I have used the clutch pedal to quickly disengage the PTO after hitting a big rock with my finish mower. It's nice to be able to kill power to the PTO quickly with the clutch. Just remember to disengage the PTO lever before releasing the clutch (don't ask me why I should remind you of that :ashamed![]()
Congrats!!!
