You could always get the optional "Man Step". :D

After 7 different knee surgeries over the years, I think the folding tailgate step is one of the best innovations with pickups in many, many years. At dealerships, it's one of the most requested options on pickups. Me thinks you watch too many commercials and fall for their damage control for what they don't have. What are you going to call it when GM and Dodge has theirs available?

I guess Dodge will call it the Ram Step, and Chevy will call it a Baby Step, Just thought I would throw that out there, just playing around.

Speaking of how much a Ford squats, anyone catch the new GM independent testing videos?
Here's one showing how much the GM and Ford trucks squat with a 2,400 lb payload and 10k lb trailer:
YouTube - Chevy Silverado 2500 HD | Head to Head Frame Strength Test | Chevrolet
Cliff notes for those that don't want to watch the video: GM 3.9" - Ford 6.3"

And another showing frame twist where the Ford actually twist so much the bed crumpled and the tailgate wouldn't open.

If you are so niave to believe they did not use the lowest GVWR package in the Ford then I have a ocean to sell you. GM offers 1 payload package, Ford has about 8 for the 3/4 ton trucks. Until I or any educated person sees what truck they are using I take this for what its worth, GM making there truck look good.

I would love to see that frame twist test on the 2010 and prior GM. My guess is it would have done worst then Ford. I have said it over and over that GM has a winner and finally a real truck with its new frame. Still need a better front suspension but they are moving in the right direction. Funny how they left Dodge out of all the test. Guess it could not match up.

This is not just GM so I am not pointing fingers. Ford and Dodge do the same. Its all about marketing.

It all comes down to who makes the best overall package.

Either way, make sure you send this to your Buddy Builder so he can add it to his mile long signature.:D:cool::thumbsup:

The Ford F250 4x4 has 2 GVWR packages available (9400/9600) and the LOWEST one (9400) has a payload rating of 2,690 lbs. That should be more than enough for this test. I guess I'm too naive to see this magical GVWR that you see to make a Ford actually handle it's rated payload...

Obviously they left it out because it did better than both. They "conveniently" left it in the drag race since it has the lowest power output but the new HO 800 lb.ft. option will leave them both behind. I've loaded plenty of 1-ton RAM's to know it would easy win the squat test and RAM's have had a fully boxed frame since 2003. Just wait for Rumble in the Rockies II.

Or because ram isn't worth mentioning when it comes to real trucks

O

Not true. Look at Fords site, there are 4 GVWR packages for the F-250 4x4. Been that way for years. Currently there is a 9,400, 9,600, 9,800, and a 10,000# package.
