B3200, L5740,
Any of you GL owners annoyed at the exhaust on these tractors. They spit the exhaust at the front of the tire and then it gets all over the loader and front of the tractor and if the wind is right all over the driver:mad:
Has anyone done any mods on there exhausts?:D

I would like to see a vetical exhaust option or aftermarket kit. Philip.

I have a cab, so it is not a big issue with me, but I would prefer a stack like our M8540.

Sounds like you have alot of exhaust coming out! I've never had an issue with it. Is yours smoking black?

Kuboman, I have a cabbed tractor but was annoyed how the loader arms were getting black. I went to a plumbing supply house and bought this $10.00 copper plumbing angle piece. I heated it up with a propane torch to get it to expand and then slipped it over the exhaust pipe. I had to trim the exhaust pipe first so I could get my angle correct. Not the prettiest, I never did get around to paint it but it works great. No need to solder it either as once it cooled and shrunk it's not going anywhere. You can see the cut off piece of original pipe sitting on the front tire.

Yes there is a lot of smoke when it is worked.:confused2: Seems to cover everything with soot if the wind is wrong.

Yours is a B by the looks of the exhaust pipe. The GL's dump the exhaust by the front tire and seems to go everywhere. Just was wondering if anyone has done any modifications to the GL exhaust.
Your mod looks like a good idea for the B series.

I have a GL 3430 but have never had a problem with the exhaust. Something must be wrong with your engine if it is sending out enough black exhaust to get stuff dirty.

My tractor is stored in unheated barn. When you start at 0F, it is going to smoke a little for the first 15 seconds or so. Philip.

Kubota does make a vertical exhast kit for the GL tractors, but you will need to cut out a little of the side panel and hood to install it.
I don not like where exhaust is located either, loader arms are black and it is a pain to hook up to front blade on LH front aswell as chaining to trailer. This should be better.

Starts great with little smoke on startup and runs clean as can be until it pulls down a little going up a hill or any time it is maxed out then the smoke starts. Don't think anything is wrong just the nature of the beast i guess.

Do you know where I can get the vertical exhaust. Is there a Kubota part #.?

Thanks for this as I did not know there was a kit.:D:licking:

Do you have more information on this? Part number? Pictrue? Web link? Thanks. Philip.

I just got to thinkin:laughing:
The hp to weight ratio on my tractor is quite high. 150#/ hp.
About as high as you can get. I have a loader and wheel weights.
Most others are down in the 100#/hp, in fact my B3200 is in the 70#/hp.
No wonder it smokes as it must be close to max most the time just to move itself around.

Just what you dealer told me, but will try to find out

Unfortunatly i think your dealer is misinformed. That vertical stack is one of the first things I requested. 2 dealers said there is no kit. 2 more said there was, then later recanted thier statement after looking to no avail telling me kubota, through sales or parts makes no such thing for the GL. As far as an aftermarket company maybe, but four of them and google searches couldnt find that either. If you do happen to know of one, please do tell, i would love to have it.

I put 200 hrs on my L3540 over 2 1/2 years and never noticed the soot accumulation and I kept it cleaned and polished. Never noticed the issue. I do use additives to the fuel for higher cetane rating, anti-fungal and non-gel formulas. Don't know if that would make a difference or not. My L3940 cab has only a little over 10 hrs so can't speak for it yet.

I get soot buildup on mine, but it's a tractor, so I don't much care; may be good protectant.:)
