Maybe with the shorter and deeper bed, that left less surface area and kept it tucked up closer to the cab and less blew out on the way home:laughing:

Sorry, couldn't resist
That and the anemic 5.4l Triton probably couldn't hit highway speeds with a load of mulch anyways. :D

I have a 2011 F-350 dually and I do believe they squat too much when towing or hauling a good load. They sit lower than GM duallys to begin with, but load them up and you can see the ford sits lower in the rear. I def want to get airbags. I think the Ford duallys are lower then the SRWs empty to begin with, perhaps for a towing bias?

I'll snap a pick of my 11 parked next to a 09 chevy dually tomorrow for comparison. As far as ride quality goes, the 11 fords are excellent and IMO are almost equal to the GMs. Dodge is not even in the same ballpack and rides much rougher.

Part of that is the bed is deeper. Look at a late model Ford vs a Late model GM. My 2007 5.5' bed F-150 I had would hold more mulch than a 6.5' bed GM.

Chris

How's that possible? There are more cubic feet in the Chevy's bed, aren't there?

And who the heck would purchase a "pickup truck" of any brand with such a short bed? I never got the purpose of short beds. They seem less "manly" than an 8' bed, too. :confused3:

Less manly,... I always though 6.5 was the average :D

I think it has more to do with parking and squeezing in garages. A crew cab 8 foot bed doesn't fit in most resort towns when we drop the camper even a crew cab 6.5' bed requires creative or lucky parking.

I've never owned a full size 'pickup' with less than an 8' bed, just seems wrong. Parking can be interesting at times though.
