Well found a nice local ym146 today...I know I should probably not have bought it due to parts...but I really wanted one of these for mowing some land that tends to be pretty high when I mow it and did not like pulling the 187 etc down there to do it.......

..now got to buy the manuals etc...

Cranks easily....runs smooth....has the Cat 0 3pt hitch and the rear pto

Everything works and I believe it is the bm type belly mower (saw grease zerks underneath) which I was thinking were a better mower deck.....they have replaced 2 of the spindles/pulleys.....

Could use a few things if anyone has them for sale: cover that goes over the pulleys on the mower deck. pto shaft to fit the female pto?? (never had seen this before)

Also noticed the buzzer going off when it was running.....what does this indicate?? Temp?? Low oil?? It was buzzing when I turned the switch on......continued once it was cranked....???? Any help here would be appreciated.

I have a 187D cat 1.....is it possible to use some of my implements with this ?? changing the pins...??

Thanks,

Scott

Your probably aware the pto shaft is 2000rpm on that little dude. At least that is what I read. I think that 15 spline male yoke is going to be hard to come by. I would try Bolens, I think some of their old tractors may have had that set up.

Winston,

I had read that......so what can I put on it?? I think the previous owner had used a rear finish mower at some point....?? Think it was a woods mower of some type.

thanks

Probably an RM42 or RM48. No longer made. Might find a used one though. Are you wanting a mower or tiller for the rear. There probably are tillers available.

the buzzer is connected to the lamp cluster and it should stop when all systems are running and OK(oil pressure up, no temp light, fuel level OK etc) i have installed gauges in mine so have disconnected the oil and temp lights and disabled the buzzer. i find the park brake light flashing annoying, the lever moves from the vibration after a while and it comes on. and my deck doesnt have the covers over the pulleys anymore or the discharge flap either, trivial things they dont really need IMHO. the deck should turn off when your bum leaves the seat anyways. mine has the BM480 SBE deck on it.

Thanks for the response.

Winston right now just curious what I can attach to it.....the mower deck works so plan on using at this point....but if it goes out wanted to know what to look for to attach to it. Tiller same thing.....is there a tiller specific for this machine or will any tiller work??

Neat1500- so if the buzzer stays on - one of the things you mentioned is not working?? Any chance the buzzer is faulty?? A far as the cover on the deck...just would like to find one if I can....I agree it is not a necessity but would be nice to have.

Got to get the manuals this coming week......I have them for my 187 and a 135-155 but not this one....neither has the buzzer as a warning device so no info in my current books.

thanks for the help

Thanks Winston.....anyone know the model number for the yanmar tiller that works with this tractor?? That way if I ever find one will know to buy it.

Will pick up the mower tomorrow and will post pictures.

does the lamp test button work OK? there is a module that controls these functions and it may be faulty.

I am picking it up tomorrow and will check....my memory is it was running fine...no smoke, cranked easily.....and no lights on the dash were on.....

Everything was working.....hydraulics, 3pt hitch, mower, etc....so hopefully it is just a false alarm......the buzzer sure was annoying :confused2:

That buzzer should only come on when the key is cranked to the left for cold weather starting or if something is wrong. Cold be a faulty sensor or buzzer for that matter.

Yanmar did make a factory tiller for these tractors. My avatar shows a picture it, but I don't have any info on them. There is an old guy around here that has one on his GT14, but he thinks that rotted, ratty junk that's been sitting outside with a blown head gasket for the last 15 years is worth thousands...

You could get three different mowers for that machine. The YCM 48 and 60 and the BM48 which is said to be better. It certainly has more and better wheels and as you stated, there are grease zerks on the spindles, vs the YCM's which have no zerks. I have all three currently andhave used the 60" deck last year a little bit. Works great, just a little much for the 14hp engine to spin in high grass. Now that I bought my 3rd YM/GT with the BM48 deck, I'll probably use that this year.

You were lucky to find one with the 3 point and rear PTO. Most didn't come with them and the parts are impossible to find (Jamieson's has rear PTO's from time to time).

As far as your question you e-mailed me, go to the Wix filter site. Click on Filter Lookup. Go to Off Highway Equipment, scroll down to Yanmar, then tractors, then select the model.

Thanks YannyMan I knew you would have some good info to share.

I am excited about picking it up today. Plan on changing all the oils, filters, etc.

Have a great day!

Got my YM146 home today. Now begins the cleaning, replacing all the fluids and filters, etc....

Interesting enough the air filter looks to be the same as my 187D. Good news for me as I had a spare so we are good in that area.

This one has the 3PT hitch, pto, and the bm48 deck....deck is okay but not great...has had some work done to it that looks to work but is not oem.

Hour meter reads in the 200's....this is a 4 digit hour meter...that normal?? My 187 is only a 3 digit that is why I ask.

Still have the buzzer going off.....not the same as when you turn the key but more of a half sounding buzzer....the high pitch buzzer goes on as soon as I turn the key to the right......then the low pitch almost muted buzzer stays on.

Got to order the manuals......

So far not too many surprises.....everything seems to work...once I have replaced all the fluids then will see what she can handle....

Yannyman anything that you see is different than yours let me know.....at this point I don't know what is original and what is not.

thanks for any input that any of you may have.

Scott

Manuals you can only find on E-bay from time to time I think...

You do have a somewhat rare part there, as it still has the PTO cover/sheild and even though its bent to ****, most owners threw them away right off the bat. You should straighten it and put it aside. It will be super rare one day.

4 digits on the meter are on all three of my tractors.

Bad news brother, you've got a YCM48 deck there, not the BM48. I can tell just by the frame mounts and that large bar at the back of the deck. See pics below of the BM48 mounts. The other pics are of two NOS decks, one BM48, one YCM48. You can see the difference in the back bar.

I read somewhere that someone said thier YCM deck had zerks on the spindles too, so its not the first time I've heard that. Then again, I guess anyone could put zerks on a spindle if they wanted. Who knows, maybe the BM spindles will fit the YCM decks?

Yannyman I noticed you have a round metal bar on the front of your GT14....is that part of the mower deck or something else??

Mine does not have that......

Hate to hear I have the 'wrong' deck.....well hopefully it will last. You can tell the PO repaired the pulleys....not exactly the same but looks to be working....only found zerks on the 2 outer spindles....just feeling around on the middle I could not find one on it.....

Nice guy that I bought it from said that they may still have the old woods mower that had been on it before....hopefully they can come up with it and it could be a back up.....

Well, you just made me aware of something I didn't pay attention to till now! The BM48 mower had the tube type front bar on them with the tensioner underneath and slightly to the right, while the YCM decks had the sheetmetal box under the "bumper" (see pics) with the tensioner on the left (facing) side of the box. Totally different, but they do the same thing. I always thought it was the same, just the sheetmetal box was missing from the BM tractor.

It looks liek maybe your factory tensioner snapped off? Hard to tell from the pic.

BTW, looking at the new pics, I believe you have the YCM 60" deck judging by how far it sticks out of the machine. You better measure that thing!

Will measure deck tomorrow in the daylight.....with the deflector taken off it did fit on my 5 x 8 trailer today...so I know the mowing part of the deck is less than 5'......

Another thing I suspect was done by one of the owners.....my front tires have 2 zerks....one on the rim frame...another on the axle end (almost like a bolt with a zerk on the end)....any of yours have this??
